Sat on a limestone throne at the peaceful pinnacle of Ravello, Belmond Hotel Caruso gazes out over the Tyrrhenian Sea. The hotel was originally built in the 11th century by a wealthy family, shipwrecked on their journey to Constantinople. It was once called Palazzo d’Afflitto—the Palace of the Afflicted. Inside, our 50 rooms have been lovingly restored to their ancient Neapolitan glory. Expect hand-crafted terracotta floors and Naples-yellow walls adorned with neo-classical antiques. Fresh flowers and stunning coastline vistas complete the experience.

Such a treat to finally return to Ravello and spend a few nights at the Caruso. The view is spectacular! Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the festive pizza making party on Friday evening.

If you are booking a stay or planning to visit the Caruso, I’d imagine your expectations are already starting at a pretty high level. Believe me when I say, the hospitality and dedication to your enjoyment while at the Caruso will undoubtable far exceed whatever it is you may be imagining awaits. The Vistas: Photos do not do justice to physically being there. The view from just about every corner of the property (especially at the pool) is so inconceivably breathtaking that if they chose to provide the bare minimum of services, you wouldn’t blame them nor mind because it is just that awe inspiring. The Service: However, “rest on their laurels” they do not. From the moment we arrived, every single individual we encountered treated us as if we had been traveling with them for years. Attentive and accommodating, never overbearing. I genuinely thought for a moment that perhaps they had mistaken me for some kind of foreign dignitary. But no, they are just. That. Good. The Food: Traveling in Italy, you don’t expect the food to just be good, you expect it to be great, and in some cases life altering. For the most part, across our trip up and down the coast, eventually making our way north to Florence, the food was very much “great.” However, one of the few instances to approach “life altering” occurred here at our lunch. The freshest sea food, pasta and unexpectedly the most remarkable fresh fruit I’ve ever tasted. It was the simplest thing, a strawberry, divided and filled with what I believe was a sorbet. It propelled me back through time, to memories of eating strawberry ice cream with my grandmother. Outstanding. Overall Impression: Anytime spent in Ravello is likely to be a highlight of your trip. But time spent at the Caruso elevates your experience to the point of potentially becoming a highlight of your life. A sincere thank you to the entire team, we hope to return soon.

The Hotel Caruso is pure magic — perched above Ravello with dreamlike views and timeless elegance. Our room was beautiful and serene, and breakfasts were truly exceptional. But what makes this place unforgettable is the staff: warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. A rare blend of luxury and heart. Can’t wait to return!
