Reviews for Algodon Mansion

A classy hotel in a beautiful district

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We stayed 6 nights in January 2026, and enjoyed almost every minute. This boutique hotel is located on a quiet leafy street in Recoleta, a short walking distance from upscale shopping and fine restaurants. Recoleta features leafy streets and numerous late 1800s mansions now converted to embassies, fine hotels and fashionable condo apartments. *Algodon Mansion is tastefully decorated, and features large well appointed guest rooms. Getting water to run hot took considerable patience. * The staff is exceptionally welcoming and accommodating. There is no restaurant or dining room. The lounge bar offers continental breakfast, and tea sandwiches, fruit, and some pastries available for guests all day, * Recommended. I would happily return.

Lovely hotel in the best area of BA

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

We enjoyed our stay very much and felt very welcome. Rodrigo the concierge is a real gem. He organized our airport pick-up, sorted out our Tango show booking and -very, very much appreciated - made an early check-in possible. We had a very spacious room/suite with an huge bathroom On the roof top is a really tempting little pool and a nice area to relax after sightseeing or drink a glas of wine in the evening. The area of the hotel is totally safe. It is a residential area and you hardly see any other tourists. Sightseeing wise you can walk to the Eva Perron cemetery (10 min.), Museo de Bellas Artes (17 Min.), Teatro Colon (20 min.), Bookstore El Ateneo (15 Min.), Museo del Aqua (20 min.), Breakfast is either in the Cafe next door or a little bit further down the street. The cafe next door was ok but the service was very slow and stony faced (even though we ordered nicely in Spanish). We preferred the other cafe. In the hotel you get complimentary snacks at the bar (danish, little sandwiches, coffee, water) all day long. We would book this lovely hotel again.

Outstanding service

Rodrigo, Juan, and the other workers were just outstanding. They helped us with everything from luggage storage to making a cocktail at the bar, and were always friendly and knowledgable. The room was also large and clean. We'll stay there again if back in Buenos Aires. Thanks!

The best!

My stay at Algodon Mansion was truly exceptional. The hotel offers a perfect balance of elegance, comfort, and warm hospitality. The rooms are beautifully appointed, spacious, and filled with luxurious details that make the experience unique. Every corner reflects great attention to detail and care for the guest. The staff deserves a special mention, as the service is impeccable. In particular, Rodrigo was an absolute gentleman – attentive, kind, and always ready to make our stay more pleasant. His professionalism and genuine hospitality elevated the entire experience. Another highlight of the hotel is its lobby, where guests are welcomed with complimentary drinks and an impressive selection of wines. It creates a relaxed and refined atmosphere, making you feel at home from the very first moment. I would highly recommend Algodon Mansion to anyone visiting Buenos Aires. It is more than just a hotel, it is an experience of comfort, class, and true Argentine hospitality.

Prime location, but far from a 5 stars level

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 8 months ago

The hotel is in a very good location in Recoleta, a converted palacio, where we had 2 adjacent rooms for 3 nights before returning to Europe. Rooms are large and of modern design, as are the bathrooms. At this level however, one would expect a safe that can fit a laptop, and accessible power plugs (or USB connections) by the bedsides, but there is only one line of 1 power plug each of different international types at the desk, and no USB. The lighting system is a bit difficult, and as there seem to be two parallel systems we could not fully work out its operation, and also could not find a working nightlight in the bathroom, and there is no make-up mirror as a substitute. Walls are quite thin, as you can actually understand people talking in the bathroom next door. The air conditioning system works well, but the unit in the hall outside the room door was so loud, that we could hear it through the closed doors. The team was friendly, but we were the only guests at the time, so services were at a minimum, and a strange feeling of solitude prevailed. The room had likely not been used for some time, as we killed a spider in the bathroom mat when opening, and the bathroom sinks drained very slowly. The pool on the rooftop is small and not heated, and under “surveillance” from the windows of the tall neighboring buildings, so we might not have used it even on warmer days. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but a lounge and snack station in the lobby, where the front desk receptionist will serve free drinks and snacks on demand. We bought some pastries in the very good pasteleria on the other side of the street, and had it with coffee in the lobby, which was very nice. For breakfast, hotel guests are sent to the Tea Connection next door, a franchise with completely unacceptable levels of service and food quality. When we came in at 08:15 the first morning, there were only 2 other guests. The waiter took our order and then chatted with the barista for 20 minutes and they had their coffees, until they finally decided it was time to prepare a (very poor) cappuccino for us. It was served with cold eggs on toast … The friendly hotel staff offered to get breakfast to the Lobby Lounge after our first morning experience, which worked o.k. Would we come back next time in BsAs? Probably not, as the price/service ratio appears unfavorable compared to other options in the area, and facilities and service levels here are not even close to expectations for a 5-star rating. It is a nice boutique hotel with limited services in a perfect location, but more than ten years from its initial Tripadvisor badges, and when the hotel was a Relais & Chateaux member, it might benefit from a technical and conceptual make-over.
