Romantic getaway

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

My boyfriend and I had such a wonderful time at The Portofino Hotel. The ocean view from our room was gorgeous, and the whole place had that relaxing coastal charm that made it easy to unwind. The staff was so friendly — Johnny at valet especially went above and beyond to take care of us. It was the perfect spot for a romantic getaway, and I’d absolutely recommend it.

Exceptional Service and Stunning Views at Portofino Hotel and Marina

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Our stay at the Portofino Hotel and Marina was truly exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the level of service and hospitality exceeded our expectations. The valet service was wonderful — I regret not catching his name, but the gentleman with the black beard was exceptionally kind and courteous, setting such a gracious tone for our visit. The front desk team was equally impressive. Check-in was seamless, and throughout our stay, everyone we encountered was professional and accommodating. On our final day, Scarlet kindly assisted with a late checkout, which made a world of difference. My husband was returning from a round of golf and was slightly delayed; Scarlet’s understanding and willingness to allow him a few extra minutes to freshen up before our late flight back to Florida was greatly appreciated. I would also like to commend Zoha, who noticed I was packing and immediately offered to help without hesitation — such a thoughtful and genuine gesture. The hotel itself is beautiful, offering stunning marina views and a peaceful atmosphere, but it’s the exceptional staff that truly make this property stand out. We look forward to returning and will happily recommend the Portofino Hotel and Marina to friends and family.

Great visit to southern costal LA

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We’ve stayed here 3 times and we’ve always enjoyed the accommodations and staff. Very convenient to family living nearby in Rancho Palos Verdes. This visit, Samantha greeted us upon checking in and gave us a great room on the top (3rd) floor facing the water. Clean, well appointed room, attentive staff. Great breakfasts across the entry at their Baleen restaurant. We’ll be back.

Close to L.A,but not too close.

Easy enough to find after a 11 hour flight to LAX.Driving up to the hotel,I thought that this looks familiar. And it is...it's the cannonball run finish.Photo op of the sign outside.Slight mix up on the rooms,251 and 257 can easily be mixed up due to the person's writing, but no big deal.Maybe do what most Europeans do and put the line thru the 7.Stops confusion.Room very nice, everything worked.A/C worked.Nice view of ocean and great conversation with the sealions.Yes they do keep talking thru the night, but shutting the door eliminates that.Room cleaned each day(5days).The hotel is out of the main L.A middle, but depending on the time,we got to Hollywood/Altadena area within the hour, and that was approx 9-930 am.We did use the restaurant opposite.A tad expensive, but nice food.Parking is 40 a night, which USA seems to have adopted everywhere...and I thought London parking was expensive,so marked down for that.Staff very nice. There was a party/company works do(?) but that didn't affect my stay.Only heard the shindig when I went to get a burger and beer at the restaurant. Yes I would come back.
