Portofino Hotel & Marina

Experience from top to bottom was fantastic. First interaction was with Johnny at the valet stand. He nicknamed our dog Olive “Low-Rider” which we thought was so cute and charming. He set the tone for our entire stay. Once we checked in, we had an amazing three nights. Room was clean, bed was comfortable, shower pressure (most importantly) was great. The food at BALEENkitchen was terrific; we appreciated our daily breakfast credit. We were able to easily walk to the Redondo Pier and it was just a short drive to the Hermosa Pier. The hotel was the perfect mix of seclusion and proximity. Loved it! Would stay again. Shout out to Johnny again, “Low-Rider” says hi! :)

Well first of all we arrived after driving 2800 miles stright from the Red Ball Garage in Manhatten. My Daughter Claudia drove every mile and is now the youngest solo driver to complete the Cannonball Run. Time of trip was 54hr 57 min and she completed it at 16yr 4d 9hr 16 min of age. Second, Johnny from valet helped us get the best pictures and was so happy to help. He told us about his life of snowboarding before arriving in Redondo Beach. What a great guy. He absolutely deserves a raise. We stayed in on the second floor facing the ocean. The vibe is kind of art deco with a little bit of modern. It's very well done and although you can tell it's an older building from the outside but once you walk in you realise a lot of time and effort was taken to update the inside. The bed was super comfy, the shower was great, the rooms are clean and quiet, and the view is amazing. You see people rowing in the morning, boating in the afternoon, sea lions hanging out and of course seeing the water is always relaxing. The beach is a close walk away and there is a restaurant right across from the valet. The breakfast there was delicious. We got the avacado bread, fruit bowl, and chia pudding. Fabulous! We got the exact same meal two days in a row. The price is a bit steep but you are on the water, with excellent service and a fantastic view. Sometimes you just gotta pay the money guys. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

We stayed here on 3/29 for our 7 year anniversary and had an amazing time! All the employees were just amazing as well. Our day started with valeting our car with the help of Johnny and Shah and they went above and beyond with our luggage and just overall so friendly. We then got checked in my Craig the manager and he was so sweet and helped upgrade us because it was our anniversary. Lastly, bartenders Hector and Alex made us some of the best drinks we’ve ever had!! Thank you as well to the manager of Baleen, Sebastian, as he kept checking up on us during our brunch! What an amazing place to stay at with equally amazing staff. I can’t recommend this place enough!!!

The Portofino is a beautiful hotel with the ocean and sea lions. However, the customer service is at a different level. From Chelsea and Craig and the front desk who make you feel welcome, and do everything possible to make your stay enjoyable. They are kind and friendly every time. Then you pull up to valet and Shah and Johnny are the absolute best. Never, have had valet treat you so well and go above and beyond to help you. They have even been leaving while I was arriving late at night, and came back just to park my car. Portofino is lucky to have a team like they do, because it is a reason I come back there (and there is a lot of choices) every time which is at least 4 times a year. I only refer this hotel, to business associates or friends visiting.

Wonderful hotel with the most professional and caring staff. Every employee interaction was outstanding. Beautiful well kept property. The Baleen restaurant sit right next to the marina with excellent views. California burrito was outstanding. Highly recommend this as to stay. I’ll be back for sure!
