Reviews for The Bellmoor Inn & Spa

More effort needed to live up to the Bellmoor's potential (and price point)

I fell in love with this property when I first visited 12 years ago, and have made an effort to come back a couple times and it seems to have gone through some nice renovations over the years. However during my most recent stay (516 - 5/19) our experience left us wishing we had tried somewhere else. The staff here is friendly and attentive, from the housekeeping staff to the breakfast attendants and front desk staff. However, we were rather surprised to find the pool closed in mid-May, only one week before Memorial Day. This was a real blow to our plans when traveling with small children... As was the discovery that the lobby bar was closed on both Friday and Saturday evenings, when it was open the Thursday before. I checked into the pool prior to booking at the beginning of the year and was told it opens in May, so this was a bit frustrating. To have to pay rates for a premium property, including the rather offensive add-on of "resort fees" of 15% (for what, amenities that were neighter open or staffed appropriately?) was deeply frustrating and left us wishing we had tried one of the many other properties in town. These may seem like small critiques, but when you're planning a trip with small children and choosing a property based on the answers to questions like "can we take the kids to the pool?" or "can I go downstairs for a drink when the kids are asleep?" since I can't leave the property, well, it really puts a damper on the whole stay when the answers to those questions are surprisingly, no.

Nice hotel, check in was easy, we were shown to our room by the check in employee which was a nice touch. I did not see a bellman. Breakfast was ok. We did not take advantage of the omelette station but it was very popular. Dimly lit area on already cloudy rainy days. The courtyard is lovely and well maintained. Our room was satisfactory, but the bed was too hard for us, and unfortunately made for difficult nights sleep. Nice sitting areas in the lobby, relaxing by the fireplace was nice.

Hard Times Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

The Bellmoor is falling on hard times. As a result of the partnership owners' emphasis on profits at all costs, this hotel is suffering from deferred maintenance, inadequate staff and missing amenities. Tiles in the elevator are beginning to crack, there is rust stains from the window air conditioners above the lobby on the Christian Street side of the building and there is no fitness facility on premises. This situation never existed under the former ownership.

Great stay and loved the massage!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Stayed at the Bellmoor Inn and Spa overnight and had a great experience. The room was adorable and comfortable, the breakfast was delicious and way more elaborate that I expected, and I had an amazing prenatal massage by Ashanti- highly recommend him for any massage! So professional and thorough and just an overall nice human being.
