Reviews for Rodos Park Suites & Spa

Location, location, location. Another lovely stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

We have been several times to the Rodos Park Suites & Spa so pretty much knew what to expect. The hotel is luxurious, beautifully fitted out and the staff are all lovely. Some recognised us as always. Evangelos is a great restaurant manager and always friendly and all reception staff always helpful. The hotel is quite expensive though and rooms fairly cosy in comparison with many other places we stay, the bathroom is beautiful but needs to be used one person at a time to prevent "congestion". The air conditioning though is excellent and much needed in the extreme heat. Breakfast has a good choice, both the two sisters were not there this time, but sadly the restaurant area is empty the rest of the day. Some reviewers have mentioned that restaurant prices are expensive and this is a shame as the offering is good, there are however many really good places to eat in Rhodes and competition is certainly tough. Since our last visit they have introduced a policy of "non reservation" of sun loungers. Whilst we applaud this and are never impressed with people who reserve loungers and then go off for hours this policy did not work fairly and was not consistently enforced. It happened at breakfast time and the "towel police" were active, after breakfast when the lifeguard had arrived it did not happen and we noticed "taken" sun loungers empty for very long periods . What it meant for us is that we could no longer sit by the pool for a while first thing in the morning (and in the extreme heat perhaps the best time to sit out) and then leave our things and go in to breakfast - rather silly! In fact on one occasion when we were actually by the pool chatting to people an attempt to remove our things was made which got us extremely annoyed. This clearly needs a rethink. As to whether the place is really short of space around the pool is a matter for conjecture - in our eleven days stay there was only one occasion when space was at a premium! There is a simple solution though. The outdoor restaurant section has never been fully utilised in all our stays here and it would be very easy to convert a section of this into an area for more sun loungers. If it ever became a major problem then maybe the whole outside restaurant area could be used and the unused internal space used for lunch and dinner! Maybe not as nice but better use of the available space. We really missed George the previous lifeguard, he was highly interactive and would put a stop to bad behaviour round the pool which unfortunately was evident this time round. We also noticed some people being told off for swimming before 10:00, whilst it did not affect us this is really too late at this time of year where temperatures climbed into the high 30's and some might want a swim before going out for the day. This would not stop us returning but we would probably look at slightly cooler times of the year, June or September when we have always been before.

A really excellent hotel

The Rodos Park is an excellent hotel. It is situated within easy reach of the hustle and bustle of Rhodes old town, (around 10mins easy walk). The rooms are clean and fresh, beds are very comfortable, the air conditioning works well in the bedrooms. The staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble, all are friendly and attentive, you were never ignored by any staff, they all wished you a good morning or afternoon with a smile. We had booked half board accommodation. Breakfast was extensive, fresh and hot where necessary. Dinner was four courses well presented and of excellent standard. Again the waiting staff are all highly trained, polite and friendly, and all give excellent service. A special mention to Evangelos Badis, the Maitre D' of the hotel, obviously a man that is well respected by his staff, a really lovely gentleman, he always went out of his way to wish you good morning or 'bon appetit'. The only downside of the hotel would be that the drinks in the bar and restaurant are really expensive. If only they could be cheaper I feel that the restaurant would have more people in it which would give a better atmosphere. The hotel tries hard with entertainment a few days a week, which also were very good, but sometimes unfortunately they are playing to very small audiences. Don't let this put you off booking Rodos Park if you want to treat yourself, it really is an excellent hotel.

Great hotel best location between new and old town

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Hotel was more upmarket than I expected. Staff very welcoming. The hotel is on the smaller side and certainly feels like personal service. Pool area is not huge but this is one hotel where people are sensible and when they are not using loungers, people honour the process of removing your stuff so others can use. The hotel is spotlessly clean with what appears to be happy staff. Breakfast was good, room decor was plush but modern and the aircon worked well. Really well located. We ended up eating mostly in the new town part and walking the old town in the evening. Great cafe/restaurant across the road for lunch. Only niggle was the gym opening at 11am-7pm meant I didn’t use it (at least that was my excuse)…
