It's fine, but doesn't achieve 5* in my opinion, it's trying to

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

It's a nice hotel. It's got works going on at the moment which takes away the peacefulness that you would ideally like from a premium hotel. The rooms are not always cleaned during the day. We got back at 6pm and it hadn't been done. They knock quite late for turn down services - after 9pm. Use your DND sign if you have jet lag. The breakfast buffet is good but the layout is narrow so it's not ideal at peak times, they could better use the restaurant space. Breakfast staff are hit and miss but Murulo was excellent. He speaks good English and offers great service. The beach service is great too, although hawkers will still reach you. I think this hotel is fine for business or couples trips but I'm not sure it would suit a young family as the pools are not really designed for swimming in. If you have a room overlooking the pools/beach you'll hear the evening entertainment. If you have a room on the other side you'll hear the road which is quite loud.

Great Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Great property. Love staying at Accor properties and really enjoyed the Fairmont in Rio. Location is among the best in Rio. Everything is at your front door....at the end of Copacabana and a short walk to Ipanema. The rooms were comfortable, albeit a bit tight. Hotel is somewhat older, but well maintained and up to date. I ate at the Michelin recommended Marine Resto onsite for many meals and it was good, but I've had better and more complete breakfast buffets. More protein options would have been nice. Service was professional and polite. The gym was adequate and was able to get in a few good workouts during my stay. I didn't use the pools...again they are condensed on the lobby level....the views are the standout here...the pools themselves are a bit small. Overall, a very good stay and would definitely consider booking this property again on a return trip to Rio.
