First off, I want to share that all the staff at this hotel were fantastic, they were what made this place great. Every interaction with them was just wonderful...They are what made the hotel good. Pros Fantastic location near Copacobana Beach Room was really nice, some parts were a bit worn though. Happy hour in the gold lounge from 6pm - 8pm was fantastic Gold lounge was a great place to enjoy breakfast Turn down service was nice Cons The pool is too small for what the hotel wants it to be. Not enough space for everyone and over crowded. It does not help they allow anyone to come and use the pool area, any local can come and seem to pay for a day use in the pool and its not just exclusive to hotel guest's this seems to make it more crowded. The pool at night seems like lots of people just come for the music and most are not hotel guest's , this gives the pool area at night a slightly sleezy vibe, lots of older men with 1 or 2 much younger women having drinks at a lot of the table. Our room could have used some TLC, the security door latch was broken and coming out of the wall, the hot water was often hit or miss depending on the time of day. The floors were coming up near the balcony and needed some attention. Often daily house keeping would not give us any water and I can to call down and ask for some bottles of water for the room, also they did not once empty the nespresso machine. It got full and we had to empty it. Service at the pool was a bit hit or miss, sometimes we would get helped right away, one morning I sat at the pool from 8.15am - 11.15am and no one asked me if I wanted to have a drink or anything to eat. The Beach club is nice, but its not amazing, drinks take ages to come. 1 Waiter working for 30 people. And beach touts come around about every 30 seconds, it would be nice if this could not happen in the fairmont section and it could be roped off on the beach.

Had a great stay thanks to the bell staff and our private tour booked with the hotel. Victor, Alfredo, and Jesus were so polite and welcoming. We felt right at home after meeting them. Our private tour guide, Mohammad, was our favorite part of our stay in Rio. Highly, highly recommend asking for him if you do a custom tour. He was so nice, patient, kind, and informative. Very nice car too. Thank you!
