Enjoy an unforgettable experience at the Fairmont RJ Copacabana, located in one of the most spectacular places in Rio de Janeiro, the Copacabana Beach, under the majestic gaze of Sugar Loaf Mountain. Inspired by the glamour carioca in the 1950's, this luxury hotel is an oasis. There are 10 rooms categories with a balcony, and the Gold Rooms offer a private lounge and exclusive services.

The Fairmont Copacabana is a wonderful property. From arrival, the staff was attentive and excellent. We enjoyed the hotel and the pool, definitely recommend it for a stay.

Lovely spa and most team members were good or great. Disappointing amount of noise and interruptions or limitations to the experience without pre-warning, which was my expectation given the price. E,g pool not available due to a conference, loud maintenance work/building work etc. Having said that, the hotel is nice overall but not best value for money when considering all round

My stay at the Fairmont Rio had some positives, but also several drawbacks. The check-in process was difficult due to a language barrier, and the breakfast à la carte menu was non existent. The internet connection was unstable and kept dropping. Housekeeping was inconsistent and there was no welcome fruit or chocolate, which I expected at this level (compared to Fairmont Manila & Istanbul). The gym felt like it was in a basement and had outdated equipment. On the positive side, the hotel has a beautiful location with a great view, and the room itself was clean and well-maintained.

There’s major building work here, but it’s not advertised and they aren’t informing people in advance. We were told it is a marketing decision. They are replacing the balconies and it looks like it’s going to go on for months. Currently this affects the sea view rooms - so you pay for that advertised view and you’re treated to a monstrosity in your line of sight. Daily banging - heavy drilling - angle grinding. All for the high cost of this hotel and the extra paid for the view. You can shut out the sight but not the noise. Dont even think of relaxing by the front pool - even noise cancelling headphones can’t compete. Remember : they’ve not advertised this or told people in advance at this time. Guest services manager did call and listened to our concerns and offered a token which was appreciated but doesn’t make it right. We were also offered to pay a negotiated £100 extra per night to upgrade which would have changed the view but not the house. The rooms are nice. 75% of the service is top notch, especially the breakfast staff and people serving around the pool. The hostesses at times guarding the ropes could be friendlier and there was inconsistencies with room replenishments. The rear relaxation pool is quieter but you can still hear the co structuring from the front and surrounding buildings also being renovated. You can’t do anything about other buildings but a hotel such as Fairmont should do better. Make special happen never seemed so far off the mark. When it’s done it’ll be fabulous but that’s a long way off
