Towering 37 floors above the world famous Copacabana Beach, and offering extraordinary views of Sugar Loaf and the Corcovado Peak, Hilton Rio de Janeiro Copacabana is a Rio landmark. Enjoying a prime oceanfront setting, the hotel is newly vibrant following a multi-million-dollar renovation. You'll be the beneficiaries of European refinement and Brazilian style whether you're enjoying the panoramic vistas from your ocean view guest room, dining on award-winning cuisine with impeccable views at The View or luxuriating by the swimming pool.

This hotel has an excellent location. However the reception staff were very unhelpful verging on rude. We arrived at 14:45 for check in but despite being told check in was 15:00 we were made to wait until 15:30. Then we were given the key with no explanation about the hotel/facilities. Our room had a good view as we had paid extra for an ocean front room. Unfortunately the room was tired , especially the terrible bathroom that had a very short bath. The roof top pool was tiny. Breakfast was very noisy with crazy background music and a very limited selection, not what I normally find in a Hilton. On asking for a late check out reception simple said no, they didn’t give me the chance to say that I only wanted an extension from 12:00 till 13:00. Clearly this hotel needs a refurb and some staff training. Definitely not the standard you’d expect from the Hilton brand!

A utter disappointment!! Apart from the fact that it is on the beach, the breakfast is basic, the rooms are basic AND I GOT STOLEN 170 EUROS FROM MY WALLET, in my backpack IN my room, and the hotel "OFCOURSE" did nothing, nada, niente!!! They were just bullshiting me about some "incestigation".....!! Also a collegue of mine on the same day, got 500 euros stolen from his room, from his backpack!!! There is nothing more to say!!! They are just "working" the clients....Brazil as usual!!! It is really rediculous ....nothing has changed fir the last 40-50 years!!

Well located hotel with good amenities and lots of nice added extras - particularly the 2 pools, and beach chairs and umbrellas . Fantastic views from the rooms. Breakfast is busy but has lots of choice, the omelette station was 5* with the chef working incredibly quickly to produce exactly what you wanted - table staff were also attentive and responsive. Rooms had everything you need and were impeccably clean with thorough room service. Concierge staff very helpful arranging trips.

We were last in Copacabana in 2008, and stayed in a beachfront hotel. The place was clean, quiet and felt pretty safe. We went back in March and were disgusted by what we found. The whole of Copacabana had a pervading odour of sewage, which was overpowering if you went 1 block back behind the end of the ocean-front road. The traffic is appalling and continuous. The nice, serpentine-patterned cobbled pavements are now broken up by wear and tree roots, and nobody has seen fit to repair them. There is litter everywhere and lots of homeless people. The restaurants along the oceanfront are almost exclusively sports bars with huge TVs showing football and with very predictable and samey menus. As for the Hilton, most of the rooms are clustered around the lift shafts, and the booming noise whenever a lift goes up or down is horrible and goes on late into the night. The sewage smell creeps in through the a/c. The restaurants and bars are typically crowded and the menus limited and uninspiring. There were always long lines at reception when we were there, either trying to check in or out - or complaining about the lift noise or the dilapidated rooms, as we were. Friends who visited Rio last year stayed in Ipanema and had a much better experience.

What I loved most about this hotel was the view. Right on Copacabana Beach I had a room on the 37th floor. When I opened the curtains and saw that view, I said wow.! I could also see sugarloft from my room. There were just two floors above me. On 38th the gym and spa and on the 39th at the pool another 360 degree view Food was very good. Staff friendly and helpful and you’re right on Copacabana Beach where all the action is.
