Margie’s Delicious

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Highly recommend Margie’s. Phenomenal food. I love the Sunday “parm” night dinner special. Make sure to get an Irish coffee from Frankie the bartender too! The best IC in the city! Thanks, Brandon

Will come back

The hotel is super cute, has many events going on (even during winter), staff is very friendly. Margie's has great food and want to highlight how nice and helpful Jayleen was during our stay. We were upgraded tks to Amex Platinum and our room had a really nice water view besides being very spacious and comfy.

Rooms are very cold with broken heat! (in the winter)

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

The Rockaway Hotel and Spa is nice - I stayed here during a big winter storm because my flight got cancelled at JFK. It looks close on a map to JFK but it took nearly 40 minutes to get here and that was the best of conditions (dry clear road, no traffic). And then at least some of the rooms don't seem to have working heat. The room I was assigned (which is a very small room - only big enough for a bed - and one small stool - no chair, and not really any place to work - was 65 F - and I hoped it would warm up. It didn't - so I had to sleep in a very cold room and it was too cold to shower there this morning. I called about getting the heat fixed. Someone came by eventually (very slow to come by) and then nothing got fixed. So then I requested to switch rooms - which the staff did. And that room had the same heating issues!! So, I called again (no phone in the room by the way - have to use your cell phone) and they said they'd send someone - but after an hour, that person still didn't come. Room is 64 F!!! So I'm just spending the time in the hotel lobby and may even have to sleep here too if they can't figure out a solution. Pretty frustrating!

Beachy & Chic Boutique Spa Hotel

Beautiful relaxing solo visit! Loved this boutique hotel’s cozy and beachy vibe. Friendly and helpful front desk, especially Jaylen and Thomas. Wonderful management by Darren who ensured that I had an amazing and restful stay. I have stayed in a few different room types and I love the ocean view rooms, and the junior suite is gorgeous! Food from Margie’s is yummy and so nice to have a coffee shop on site as well. Services were booked up (make reservations ahead of your visit) but I really enjoyed the saunas and heated pool! Thanks guys and I’ll be back very soon!

Great stay - Hotel & Spa is brilliant

I’ll be posting a separate review of the spa and therapist at the end of this hotel review, because the experience truly deserves special mention. This was our first time staying here, and we ended up booking an extra day—possibly even another. Now, I'm not going to pretend it is cheap; it is not. But it is value for money. The hotel is lovely, and the staff are consistently warm, attentive, and welcoming. The food is excellent, and the décor has a relaxed, beach vibe that feels just right given the hotel’s proximity—only a few blocks—to Rockaway Beach. We came here to rejuvenate at the end of an awful year, and honestly, who cares if it’s winter and a major snowstorm is on the way? We feel comfortable, cared for, and at ease. Considering staying there for New Year's Eve/day. We stayed in a two-bedroom bungalow with stunning views of Manhattan, along with access to a heated outdoor pool and a sauna. Would we stay here again? Absolutely. A couple of suggestions for management: adding sound-absorbing tiles or patterned acoustic panels on the walls would help reduce echo in the living room and bedrooms. Also, the living room furniture would benefit from higher seating. The current setup is relatively low and not ideal for guests with back or hip issues. Lastly, in-room reusable water bottles could be cheaper. Building automatic roof and side panels around the pool would make it more comfortable in the wintertime. Heating the pool is such a plus. cover over Now, the spa experience—this deserves its own spotlight. This was my first visit to the spa, and I cannot say enough about Miss Jeanne, my massage therapist. She is absolutely exceptional. As a World Trade Center toxic dust cancer survivor who has endured three aggressive cancers, recent surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, my body has been through a great deal. Each day presents its own challenges—particularly with my legs, feet, arms, and hands. The neuropathy in my hands and feet has been exceptionally debilitating. This was my very first massage experience, and after just two sessions with Miss Jeanne, I genuinely feel a difference. Her healing hands seem to know exactly where and how to work—helping my body release deeply held tension and reconnect in ways I didn’t think were possible. The relief has been both physical and emotional. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, Miss Jeanne. She is a true gem and an invaluable asset to the Rockaway team. I would also like to acknowledge the spa receptionist, who was warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind.
