The worst experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I made a same-day reservation for my daughter and me, and unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. When we arrived at the hotel, it was pouring rain and there was a thunderstorm. At check-in, we were informed that the room we had booked was not actually located in the hotel building, but in a separate property several blocks away. This was not what we expected based on the reservation. Given the severe weather, I asked if they could arrange a taxi or some form of transportation to the other location. We were told no and that we had to walk, although a hotel employee would accompany us. I then asked if there was any room available in the building we were already in, and was told that we would have to pay an additional €200 per night. We ended up walking for nearly 10 minutes in heavy rain and a thunderstorm, without an umbrella. Even the employee who accompanied us commented that he did not understand why we had been sent so far away. When we finally arrived at the studio, the area and property felt very questionable and uncomfortable. To make matters worse, when we reached the second floor, part of the access to the room was uncovered, so we continued getting soaked. Once we reached the room, we were shocked. It was in poor condition, the door was already open when we arrived, and there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke. At that point, we did not feel comfortable or safe staying there and decided to leave. The entire experience was extremely unpleasant. What made it even worse was the way the situation was handled by the hotel staff. Instead of showing concern or trying to find a reasonable solution—especially considering the severe weather—they were rude, dismissive, and inconsiderate. We arrived expecting a comfortable and safe stay and instead ended up walking through a thunderstorm to a separate property that did not meet our expectations at all. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this hotel.

We booked the Presidential Suite with attached Condotti Suite. We had a fantastic time. The staff was more pleasant than other reviews let on. I’d stay here again. Room 810 & 811

Deplorable and Obnoxious Front Desk Staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I've stayed at The Inn at the Spanish Steps numerous times previously and also recommended it to friends and family. It was always a wonderful experience. NOT THIS TIME! The staff at the front desk were the worst I have ever experienced. I was accosted in the hallway by an extremely rude employee upon entering (not invited to the reception area) and grilled about my upcoming stay. I was told I didn't have a room booked for two days, although they finally admitted I did. When finally allowed into the reception area, I was confronted by the worst front desk person imaginable. She was rude, condescending, and obnoxious. This is how they greet guests? I will NEVER stay there again.

Would not bother booking

We booked our trip to celebrate a special anniversary .When we booked the travel consultant did not explain that this property is apartments spread around the area so you have to walk up a n ally round the corner up a street round a corner to reach the main building to get your pre paid breakfast. Personally I would not of agreed to stay here had this been explained before hand. It’s sold on its proximity to the Spanish Steps and walking distance to sites which maybe true but the metro system is good and cheap so you can have a much nicer hotel a bit further out than this place and see all the sites . Depends what you’re looking for but I would not book this place again not a good experience ruined our celebration

Weekend in Rome

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This hotel requires 2 ratings. It gets a 5 for location… via condotti… right in the heart of shopping, dining, and walkable to many sites. Can’t speak for all the rooms but ours was lovely. It gets a 1 for hospitality. I have stayed here many times over the years for work and do not remember a reception staff this uninviting. They were cold and rude and basically not interested in accommodating their guests.
