DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY IN THIS DUMP.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Don’t waste your money in this dump. Although the location is good, YOU’RE GOING TO WASTE YOUR MONEY. t’s not worth at all. Louzy service and the rooms are old. Just to have an idea, in the bathroom you have to hold the shower with one hand and wash yourself with the other, with absolutely no curtains around like a one star hotel. Everything gets wet. In one of the many times that I tried to reach the reception, I asked for a favor to book a restaurant. After one hour without an answer I called back. He didn’t call because he had other things to do it. I called the restaurant and they had just made the last reservation. STAY AWAY OF THIS HOTEL.

Luxury Prices, Budget Motel Accommodations

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

My family and I recently spent six nights at the Grand Hotel Plaza during our trip to Rome, and unfortunately it was the most disappointing hotel experience of our entire Italy vacation. The hotel's greatest strength is its public spaces. The lobby is beautiful, filled with art, history, and old-world elegance. When you first arrive, it creates the impression that you are about to experience a truly luxury hotel. Unfortunately, that impression disappeared as soon as we entered our room. Despite paying over €1,000 per night, our room overlooked the hotel's back service area. Instead of views of Rome or an attractive courtyard, we spent six days looking at dumpsters, grease traps, and service equipment. For a hotel that positions itself as a luxury property, this was extremely disappointing. What made the experience even more frustrating is that paying over €1,000 per night provided absolutely no advantage. I specifically chose this hotel because I was willing to pay a premium for a premium experience. Instead, I received a room that was in worse condition than many budget hotels I have stayed in over the years. The room itself felt neglected and in need of significant renovation. We encountered multiple maintenance problems, including broken toilets, non-functioning light fixtures, a leaking shower, damaged walls, worn furniture, and even ants coming through gaps in the wooden flooring. I understand that historic hotels have character and age, but there is a difference between historic charm and poor maintenance. The reality is that spending more than €1,000 per night should place a guest in one of the finest accommodations in Rome. Instead, the room quality felt closer to a Motel 6 than a luxury hotel. In some respects, I have stayed in budget hotels that were cleaner, better maintained, and offered a more pleasant guest experience. What frustrated me most was the gap between expectation and reality. The photos and marketing materials present a luxury experience, but our room simply did not reflect that standard. The condition of the accommodations was completely inconsistent with the premium rates being charged. Rome was wonderful, and we loved our time in the city. However, if I were planning another visit, I would choose a different hotel. The Grand Hotel Plaza has a magnificent history and a stunning lobby, but in my experience, the guest rooms did not justify the price. Travelers considering this property should carefully read recent reviews and understand that paying luxury prices here does not necessarily result in a luxury room experience.

Great disappointment

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I've stayed at this hotel many times before, and after years of being in Rome, I chose it again because I was satisfied with it previously. But the result was a complete disappointment. The hotel's location is excellent, but the room service is completely broken. Let me explain: for three whole days, the trash can wasn't emptied, no toilet paper was provided, the toilet wasn't cleaned, the broken cistern wasn't repaired, and the refrigerator with the mini-bar was also broken. Even worse, despite repeated requests, the hotel management did nothing to address these easily solvable problems. I would advise anyone planning to travel here to consider these issues. Personally, I wouldn't even consider staying here again.

The staff are the real stars of this hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

This historic grand hotel has been featured in many films, and despite its' age it has appeared in many modern (actions) films. The location is perfect, right in the centre of Rome. One street away from the famous Via Condotti and many great restaurants, Gelateria, and most importantly for us, a Carrefour express grocery store. While the hotel is breathtakingly beautiful, the rooms need major upgrading. Some of the common areas such as Lobby and receptions would also benefit from a slight touch of rejuvenation. The staff are incredible, from the reception staff, lobby/ baggage staff, room service, and housekeeping. They are all worthy of a five star in service, or perhaps the five stars earned by this hotel are from these team of staff?
