Great Staff & Charming Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

My stay at Hotel Dei Mellini was absolutely wonderful. Immediately upon my arrival I was greeted at my cab by a Hotel Dei Mellini bell hop (Francesco sp), who turned out to be very helpful while I waited for my hotel room by showing me which of my electric attachments to use in Italy and where to find a local bank. The star of my arrival was Marta (sp) who worked the front desk and was super engaged, super professional and quite humorous. Even though I arrived a few hours before my room was ready, I already felt welcome and comfortable while waiting in the lobby because of the Hotel Dei Mellini staff. The hotel is quite lovely and cozy with a rooftop terrace, restaurant (breakfast only), bar and fitness room. I reserved a room for three and the room was quite spacious with very nice and modern decor. The room also came with 1.5 baths, so it was very convenient for me and my travel partner. The hotel location was perfect for my first visit to Rome as it never took me more than a 10-35 minute walk to reach any of the famous historic sites or my tour starting points. There are quite a few restaurants, markets, pharmacies, and banks/ATMs in the area.

Well-located hotel with excellent restaurants nearby.

We had a spacious room in the hotel, which is on a quiet street near Piazza Cavour. We were able to walk to most of the most-visited sights, for example, St. Peter's, the Pantheon. The hotel seems to cater to Americans and the staff was friendly and spoke English.

Good location, adequate room but poor breakfast

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This hotel is well placed to see the city by foot. So for that I’d recommend it. Our room was adequate but noisy especially through the night. We could hear the lift and even someone snoring, which made sleeping difficult. The room was clean and had everything you needed. The most disappointing was the breakfast. Very little choice, poor service and the quality wasn’t good at all. I’d say the breakfast was more of a 2* hotel and for this reason we wouldn’t go back or recommend it.

Easy Rome stay

We needed a spot for one night before flying out of Rome-this hotel was well located, clean and 20 minutes from the airport. Arrived mid day and one of our rooms was ready so we could drop luggage and go enjoy the city. Would recommend when in Rome! They were also able to accommodate a ‘triple’ which is hard to find!

Grazie mille, lovely Hotel dei Mellini

My new home in Rome is Hotel Dei Mellini in the same neighborhood as my previous one, Le Meridien Visconti. I adore beautiful and upscale Prati neighborhood near Piazza Cavour. It is easy to get to the hotel from the airport: I took a comfortable SIT bus to the Vatican (7€ one way) - same as I always do. My room was upgraded, but wasn’t ready yet, which wasn’t a problem at all for me. My room was of a good size and the bathroom was spotless with thick towels and lovely toiletries provided. The bed was very comfortable and I had a good sleep - it was nice and quiet, a rarity in hustling and bustling Rome. Their plentiful breakfast was a great start of the day. The spread has everything I love: amazing bread, formaggio con pistacchio (yum!), prosciutto, scrambled and “do-it-yourself” boiled eggs, fruit (kiwi, pineapple, oranges) and vegetables (cucumbers, greens and mouthwatering tomatoes), yogurt (normal plain yogurt -yes!!!), wonderful selection of pastries, good coffee, my beloved San Pellegrino… and what not! The breakfast room is charming and their service is superb. Well, I indulged… guilty as charged. Needless to say I will be back.
