Rome, Italy is a city that requires the use of superlatives in its description. Western culture and history call this modern city home, as can be witnessed in the beautiful architecture, breathtaking collections of art and sculpture, and even in the stones beneath your feet. Rome is a place to feast the senses and inspire the spirit, and the Hotel Dei Mellini is the place to rest your head at the end of each memorable day. Located on the right bank of the Tiber River, calling the Spanish Steps and St. Peters Cathedral as close neighbors, guests are privy to vistas and access that few encounter in this legendary city. Opulent and comfortable, with modern amenities and an Art Deco décor, the Dei Mellini is your luxurious address in ancient Rome.

This hotel is well placed to see the city by foot. So for that I’d recommend it. Our room was adequate but noisy especially through the night. We could hear the lift and even someone snoring, which made sleeping difficult. The room was clean and had everything you needed. The most disappointing was the breakfast. Very little choice, poor service and the quality wasn’t good at all. I’d say the breakfast was more of a 2* hotel and for this reason we wouldn’t go back or recommend it.

We needed a spot for one night before flying out of Rome-this hotel was well located, clean and 20 minutes from the airport. Arrived mid day and one of our rooms was ready so we could drop luggage and go enjoy the city. Would recommend when in Rome! They were also able to accommodate a ‘triple’ which is hard to find!

My new home in Rome is Hotel Dei Mellini in the same neighborhood as my previous one, Le Meridien Visconti. I adore beautiful and upscale Prati neighborhood near Piazza Cavour. It is easy to get to the hotel from the airport: I took a comfortable SIT bus to the Vatican (7€ one way) - same as I always do. My room was upgraded, but wasn’t ready yet, which wasn’t a problem at all for me. My room was of a good size and the bathroom was spotless with thick towels and lovely toiletries provided. The bed was very comfortable and I had a good sleep - it was nice and quiet, a rarity in hustling and bustling Rome. Their plentiful breakfast was a great start of the day. The spread has everything I love: amazing bread, formaggio con pistacchio (yum!), prosciutto, scrambled and “do-it-yourself” boiled eggs, fruit (kiwi, pineapple, oranges) and vegetables (cucumbers, greens and mouthwatering tomatoes), yogurt (normal plain yogurt -yes!!!), wonderful selection of pastries, good coffee, my beloved San Pellegrino… and what not! The breakfast room is charming and their service is superb. Well, I indulged… guilty as charged. Needless to say I will be back.

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and the room was excellent. Great size bed, good bathroom, room was good size, good wardrobe, fridge in room, lovely seating area in the window and black out curtains - and not a sound to be heard from anywhere. - only bad comment my husband said the tv was in Italian :) !! Beautiful roof garden. We ate at the bar 2 nights - fab lasagna, tagliatelle and pizza - very good price and very tasty. There is enough room downstairs to sit around in the evening and if you have spare time. Breakfast was to die for - best I have had abroad in ages- scrambled eggs - which I could have eaten forever!!! Bacon and sausages that melt in the mouth. Hotel was exceptionally clean and majority of staff friendly - a few inconsistencies! It is close to the Vatican and once you have worked out the back streets everything comes closer. Everthing was in walking distance and it is worth the walk to all the sights - we walked 25 miles over 2 days !!! Only downside - there are not alot of eating places around about but lots of parking sites. It is of the beaten track and is a good 15 minute walk to get an area for a variety of food. Tip: do not use the local mini mart - if you go a couple of streets over there are 2 supermakets at a quarter of the price and more variety. Nothing was too much at the hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone - Remember in Rome the cobbles can hurt -wear very good suportive shoes!!!

The hotel is in a great location, lovely staff, great breakfast to set you up for a day's sightseeing and lovely restaurants all nearby. Its about a 20 min walk to the Spanish Steps and about 30-40 mins to the Colosseum. Fab gelato shop just round the corner as well near Piazza Cavour. Easy to get to from the airport on the train / metro. Perfect stay in Rome
