Terrible customer service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Customer service is horrendous. While our on way to Rome for our vacation, a family member I was traveling with suffered a medical emergency and was hospitalized for 2 days. This unfortunately required us to cancel our vacation and this stay within the cancellation period. A friend called the hotel to notify them of our situation. They said an email needed to be sent, which he did and copied me. The hotel then said since I used Marriott Bonvoy points for this stay, I had to contact Marriott Customer Service. I did. Marriott said the hotel had to authorize the refund of points, and the hotel refused. I have repeatedly reached out to both the hotel and Marriott and each points the finger at the other one. During such an upsetting and stressful time, i expected compassion as a long loyal Marriott member. There are other hotel brands I can move my loyalty to. I will definitely not patronize this hotel on my next vacation to Rome.

Great Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We traveled here with our family in early August. The hotel met every expectation. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the hotel itself was much nicer than I expected. Not sure what I expected, but it was on par with the nicer hotels in the US. The hotel had a breakfast buffet every morning upstairs with an assortment of options, which was perfect before going out sightseeing. There was something for everyone on the menu or buffet, which was very convenient and appreciated. Finally, not being all that familiar with Rome, it felt like we were centrally located. We walked to and from Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain, and there were an ample selection of nice restaurants around us (though I think you can say that about anywhere in Rome). All in all, I was really pleased with our visit here.

Good location but not worth Five-Star Expectations

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The location of this hotel is great. It’s within walking distance of many of Rome’s main attractions, which made exploring the city easy. The rooftop terrace is beautiful, with fantastic views, and I had a very good dinner there. That said, I booked this hotel expecting a true five-star experience, and unfortunately, it didn’t deliver. The property has a classic charm, but it feels dated and, in my opinion, is much closer to a good four-star hotel than a five-star one. My biggest disappointment was the breakfast. It was very average—more in line with what I would expect from a three- or four-star hotel. There wasn’t even an omelet station or a proper selection of freshly prepared eggs, and the overall quality and variety were underwhelming. Having stayed at many Marriott properties, especially in Italy, where breakfast is usually a highlight, this was surprisingly disappointing. The gym is ok however there’s no air and extremely hot. The spa is extremely basic. The photos on the hotel’s website create a very different expectation from what you actually find. I would recommend keeping your expectations modest in that regard. The room itself was comfortable, and I especially liked the bathroom. The service, however, felt average rather than exceptional. As a Marriott Lifetime Platinum member, I appreciated being upgraded, but the overall experience simply didn’t match the level or price of a five-star hotel. Overall, it’s a good hotel in an outstanding location, but if you’re paying five-star prices and expecting a true luxury experience, I don’t think this hotel delivers. Setting your expectations closer to a very good four-star hotel will likely result in a much more satisfying stay.
