Rougher than the colosseum

Interesting one. Was probably beautiful 25 years ago. Location is good. It was clean. Bed was comfy. I’d stay again if had no alternative but would really rather not due to the absence of basic modern amenities. We stayed 2 nights and then another 2 nights after a 7 night cruise so I have experience of 2 room types and think this is balanced. No iron in rooms and no iron available to borrow/use. Shocking in 2026. Hardly any sockets in rooms. No USB port of any type. Any sockets available were not near the beds and the actual wall sockets were ancient. Modern adapters couldn’t stay in. The public areas of hotel are not A/C’d so it is absolutely sweltering. The shower/bath isn’t easy to get the temperate right as I think it was fitted out in Pope Linus times. 20 euro for an aperol spritz in rooftop bar when it’s 8-13 everywhere else nearby and the ground floor bar was closed all 4 of the days. It’s a 3 star hotel at the very best.

Shocking return customer service

Shocking customer service. We had our honeymoon here in 2016 and booked to return for our 10th anniversary July 2026. Due to flight issues from the UK our trip was cancelled . We were so upset and disappointed. I have contacted the hotel via email 5 times now asking if they would issue us with a credit note so we could book for July 2027 for our anniversary. No reply whatsoever.

Great location and breakfast

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

It's a pretentious 4 star hotel near Roma Termini. The location is the greatest asset of this hotel. Also the breakfast starts early at 7:00 and it's delicious. They do offer takeaway breakfast, but it's rather disappointing (they give bottles of water though). Other than that, the rooms are rather small, but clean. They had some issues with hot water during my stay. The staff is a mixed bag: some of them are friendly and helpful, but there are some grumpy receptionists. If you don't care about the atmosphere and need a rather affordable hotel in the center of Rome, this is your pick.

Rome & Naples

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Location wise it's really good, however the hotel is very tired, it's not a 4 star, the revolving door is quaint, the bedroom is cramped at best, the shower is poor, the city of Rome is very disappointing, apart from the tourist areas which are kept reasonably clean, the rest of the city is a massive disappointment, you have to go a long way to find a wall or door that hasn't got graffiti splashed all over it, as for litter, it's everywhere, it's as though the council couldn't care less, we wouldn't go back and Naples is no better very similar to Rome, if you do venture to these places take plenty of spending money, we spent more in Rome for a two night stay than we did in NY at Christmas for 4 nights two previously

Avoid at all costs

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

On top of the numerous stains we saw in various spots in our room, our shower didn’t stop dripping all night. We also had the thinnest pillows of all time, on top of a very thin mattress. I did not feel safe going to sleep here in this part of town and the weird lock system they had for door handles. If you value getting a decent (not good - decent) nights sleep, I recommend you book somewhere else. This makes top 3 list of worst hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The upstairs bar was nice and the staff was nice, but it was offensive how gross the room was. This hotel made me reconsider what people think a 4 star hotel should be. I wish other travelers could have been more honest about their reviews so I would have avoided staying here.
