Reviews for Mecenate Palace Hotel

Old, dingy, overpriced

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Not a 4 star hotel!!! More a 2 star. Hotel greeting was not friendly, welcoming or cordial to Anericans. Hotel Needs a major renovation. Lobby had a sewer odor, room was so small that we could not open 1 suitcase and we had 2 large suitcases. Felt like a closet and we backed up to an elevator that was noisy all the time. Bathroom fixtures rusty. Breakfast was $20 per person and if you wanted waffle or anything substantial it was extra. Had to walk a flight of spiral stairs to get to the food. Elevator did not go there!? Our Room was dusty, curtains dingy gray, and 3x we expressed our thermostate was not working. Never corrected. Avoid this one that was overpriced and a disappointment....definitely not worth the money and it is not a palace!!!

A beautiful romantic experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

In April of 2026 my wife and I stayed for six days at the Mecenate Palace in Rome. It was a beautiful experience. The rooms were European great (fabric wall coverings, high ceilings, great windows/views, a bidet, and a large bathroom). It is a great central location with many street shops, restaurants, stores, parks and basilicas within short walking distance. The staff was friendly and responsive. A great classic lounge with inside and outside seating at the street level. The highlight was the rooftop view/seating with a great bar and restaurant. This is where a wonderful breakfast buffet was served every morning and every evening closed out with a glass of wine while taking in the beautiful view. The food at the restaurant was first class. This was an important trip for us (50th anniversary) so I wanted it to be perfect. It was!

Delicious food and efficient, friendly service at ground floor bar and outdoor cafe. Great coffee. Less crowded, more select too.

Good stay for sightseeing in Rome

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Good stay for a few days of sightseeing seeing in Rome. The main attraction of this hotel is the location. You’re a 5 minute walk from Romes central train station which is super convenient for getting to and from both airports in Rome. The hotel itself is no further than 15-20 minute walk to all of Romes main attractions, especially the Colosseum, Palatine hill and the Forum which is great. The Vatican is a fair way away but I think this is the case with most hotels in the centre of Rome. So great location overall. The staff are always friendly and support you with any questions you have. The room was cleaned daily which is good and a great range of toiletries provided. I was given the opportunity to upgrade to the suite room which was well worth it so I cannot comment on the size of rooms. Breakfast is great to start your day. Traditional European breakfast with Italian sweet choices such as cakes etc. Good coffee and juices also provided. The hotel is clean and has a nice traditional feeling with marble flooring.
