Reviews for Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese

One lovely night and great location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We'll be back. With limited time in Rome, hotel location is critical. The Roma Sofitel was just perfect after a really frantic day of sightseeing. We only had one night in Rome, it was important for us to be as close to the sights we wanted to see over two days. We got to the hotel early leaving our bags in storage then a day of sightseeing. We got back in the evening to our room overlooking the Borghese gardens. Beautiful room lovely ensuite. Dinner was easy, hotel restaurant top floor overlooking the Vatican. The food and service was wonderful. Tired we crashed on a very comfortable bed. Next morning we had an early breakfast in the same restaurant enjoying the view over Rome. Finally we checked out while being able to stow our bags at the hotel for a late afternoon departure. Our thanks to all the staff for making just our one night extremely pleasant and memorable.

A great hotel. Will stay again.

Stayed for 2 nights in April and really enjoyed this hotel. The location is excellent - close enough to walk everywhere but in a peaceful part of Rome just a stone’s throw from the Spanish Steps. The rooftop bar and restaurant is a highlight. The rooms a nice, small but comfortable. The hotel has a nice feel about it, one of the nights we were there, there was also a large tour group which had a negative impact on the feel of the restaurant and the lobby but otherwise it was good.

Roman holiday turned sour

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Looking forward to a quaint Roman holiday ended up hiding in my room and can’t even get to visit the restaurant but only room service. Spoke to hotel they don’t want to know. Paying for a suite for peace moment ended up being bullied by staff

Never Again

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Hotel not a true 5 or 4 star for that matter. Overpriced, rooms extremely small (bathroom doors when opened hits a wall) front desk forces you to wait until check-in time even when rooms are available, they literally come running to you about 3 minutes before check in to hand you Keys they could’ve given when you initially walked in..they don’t offer water you have to ask, they process other folks who walk in way after you before you. Everything has a fee, rooftop is quite small and view isn’t that great. They like to switch rooms you’ve booked and sell you on a view that doesn’t really exist….I would never stay at a Sofitel property again.

A Friendly Staff in a Beautiful Space

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The hotel is situated close to the action without being in the middle of the action. It is very close to the Via Vento, the top of the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain. Just a few blocks in any direction puts you onto busy streets, but the immediate vicinity is quiet and peaceful. It is also very close to the Villa Borghese Park. Most of the rooms lack panoramic views, but the rooftop restaurant has a fantastic view of Rome, so I recommend you include the breakfast option and start each day looking out over the city. The staff is very helpful. The concierges made tour bookings for us and suggested (and booked) excellent restaurants for us. They also gave us great insider tips for neighborhoods and sights around that city that are not on the usual tourist paths. We got a lot of insight and background from them before we set out. We really appreciated their friendliness and help. The whole staff recognized us right away and always welcomed us back when we returned. We stayed for a week, and we felt like it was like a home in Rome.
