Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese

The Sofitel Roma Villa Borghese is 5 star plus. My husband and I just arrived home after a fabulous, faultless 4 night stay. We travel frequently worldwide and this hotel is at the top of our 5 star hotel experience. The hotel is brilliantly situated in an elevated position over the city, a short walk from the Spanish Steps, key sights, shopping and Villa Borghese park. We received a warm welcome when we arrived, not just initially but every time we walked through the door. The whole reception team were professional and made us feel valued. They were always one step ahead … for example, anticipating the need for a taxi. Our luxury king room was large, spacious, light and wonderfully designed, equipped and decorated. The housekeeping team deserve credit for their hard work and attention to detail … Not a speck of dust or smeared glass anywhere. Absolutely first class. The hotel restaurant has to be a culinary jewel in the local vicinity. It appeared that a number of locals visited … Always a good sign. The views over the city are truly magnificent and the modern, contemporary decor wraps itself around you. The quality of the cooking was a delight … Innovative with an emphasis on quality ingredients. It must be said the restaurant also offers value for money. Something most 5 star hotels struggle to do. Last but not least, the restaurant team are warm, welcoming and professional. Nothing is too much trouble. The staff at this hotel have a pride in their service and it shows in every detail.

The hotel enjoys an exceptional location in the heart of Rome, and the terrace on the seventh floor offers a truly breathtaking view of the city. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience does not live up to the standards of a five-star hotel. Breakfast was particularly disappointing: packaged cooked ham, mediocre prosciutto, and virtually no choice of chees. The most surprising episode occurred when someone knocked on the door of my room and handed me a small card wishing me “Happy Birthday” — which was not my birthday — together with a plate containing an apple and two partially dried mandarins. What was probably intended as a kind gesture came across instead as rather absurd for a hotel of this category. In short: an exceptional location, but attention to detail and overall service quality that fall well short of what one expects from a five-star hotel. Penny wise, pound foolish.

I recently stayed at Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese for a business trip and had an excellent experience. The room cleanliness was outstanding — everything was spotless, well organized, and very comfortable after a long working day. It’s clear that the housekeeping team pays great attention to detail. What truly stood out was the kindness and professionalism of the staff. Everyone I interacted with was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely helpful, making the stay smooth and pleasant. Finally, the food was delicious. Both breakfast and dining options were of high quality, with fresh ingredients and great flavors — a perfect start and end to a busy day. Overall, it’s an ideal hotel for business travelers looking for comfort, quality service, and great food in the heart of Rome. I would gladly stay here again.

We arranged to stay here for our 25th anniversary, and it was an amazing experience. The staff was friendly and responded quickly to any requests that we had (extra pillows, finding a way to turn down the heat, etc). We felt very well taken care of. Our room was large and comfortable. Drinks at the rooftop bar were great, I had an old fashioned and an Aperol spritz that I’m still thinking about several days after our trip. Breakfast felt equally lush, I can personally vouch for the selection of pastries, bruschetta, fruits, yogurt, cappuccino, fresh juice and cheeses. (There was a ton more stuff that I never got to.) Location was also pretty ideal, not more than 30-40 minutes walking to all the major tourist sights, and a lot closer to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. I was grateful to stay here. Beautiful Sofitel property in a very central location. We were fortunate enough to stay in a wonderful luxury suite which was located one floor below the restaurant. This stunning suite afforded us a lovely large clean suite with stunning views and beautiful sunsets to be enjoyed across Rome. Highly recommended property offering all the luxuries associated with the Sofitel brand. Special mention to Mossamon (Concierge team) who was so helpful and attentive and certainly went the extra mile to help us secure our stay at this stunning hotel. Thank you!
