Villa Agrippina Gran Melia

This was our 10th trip to Rome and we decided to try a new hotel - and we are SO happy we did! Villa Agrippina Gran Melia is a gem - wonderful location (it's down a short hill and three blocks to the Vatican - an easy walk; also an easy walk to Campo di Fiori, Piazza Nuevo, Trevi Fountain, etc. The rooms were spacious and bright with HUGE bathrooms and very comfortable mattresses. Check-in was flawless; I would particularly like to compliment Thomas who made our stay extra special! We were charmed by the FAO Schwartz theme throughout the hotel (my husband and I met at the FAO Schwartz in Chicago 30 years to the day that we stayed at Villa Agrippina!). The entire staff was friendly, breakfast was a feast for the senses (SO many choices); concierge services were first-rate and the tapas bar was cozy, relaxing and gorgeous. The hotel is set back from traffic, so our stay was very quiet and peaceful. We didn't have a chance to try to spa, but friends raved about the massages they received. The only thing I would fault is there is not enough 'storage space' in the closet if arrive laden with luggage for a slightly longer stay. (Plenty of room to hang things; not enough drawers to be useful). We will definitely be returning to this hotel!

The hotel staff are friendly and very welcoming, providing excellent service, delicious breakfast and tapas. Lots of effort made to decorate for Christmas we really appreciated. Would recommend the bar/tapas area - felt like home but with great cocktails and atmosphere. Rooms were very comfortable, beds and pillows good although would have liked a third pillow but never asked and am sure would have been available if I had. Love the soaps and toiletries as smelt divine (trying to find for home). We walked many miles from here to see all the sights and probably could have done more but just enjoyed Villa Agrippa as well. This hotel is made by the staff. We had breakfast included which was fine. Overall, a lovely hotel that is well located for enjoying Rome. We were blessed with clear blue skies in December but can see this place comes into its own as the weather gets warmer, as the pool and gardens are lovely.

We enjoyed our week-long stay at Villa Agrippina very much. The staff were friendly and professional. The room had a nice garden view and was comfortable and spotless. We enjoyed strolling thriugh the extensive gardens, which were meticulously maintained. The location adjacent to the Vatican and the Tiber was super convenient. The breakfast buffet was excellent, and we enjoyed the tapas dinner at their Amaro restaurant very much. This charming five-star hotel offered a perfect haven for our long explorations of this great city.

A beautiful hotel close to the Vatican City. The staff and amenities are amazing. The restaurants are fantastic with great service and exciting menu.

Top location and an oasis of tranquility. Great hotel with very nice accomodations, but the kindness of the people working there truly made it a very nice experience.
