Villa Agrippina Gran Melia

Breathtaking. Beautiful place to stay and a great location. Food was amazing and everyone went above and beyond to make you feel at home.

We booked a 3 bedroom villa with pool and jacuzzi for a 4 night stay. The staff and food were 10 out of 10. The concierge team was very helpful and the restaurants and room service food was excellent. The villa itself though was not good: - The rooms are very old and contain furniture from the 1980s - they are in desperate need of a renovation. - There’s no water pressure in the overhead shower head, so you have to use the hand shower. - The bathrooms are tiny and have no space for toiletries. - There is nowhere to hang towels when you shower. - Swimming towels weren’t replaced by housekeeping so we had 2 towels for 6 people. - Mosquitos everywhere any time you go outside to use the pool or spa. The suite was not worth 7,000 Euros a night - maybe 3,000 at most. Also they added a 1,000 Euros voluntary tip to our bill. When questioned, she said we can remove it, which I did. We aren’t in America and a 1,000 Euro tip is absurd for what we already paid. Overall I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again.

Service is amazing. The breakfast is out of this world, even with a The breakfast is out of this world, even with a separate table for kids with donuts and cupcakes. our room had its own mini pool that was heated upon checking in, they provided our room with snacks like fresh Parmesan cheese, cookies, muffins, etc., and fruit. The gym is very nice with new equipment. Only thing I would suggestis to have a sign in the room telling guest how to work the controls and the phone because we kept on bugging the poor receptionist and the Concierge. Last thing is the location is very far from the downtown room are. We have no problem with walking, but this is too far and there is a huge hill to get back to hotel.

Our rating is based on the price point of the hotel. For a hotel in the luxury hotel category we found it average. Firstly all the staff are helpful and courteous. The rooms we found small and even though we were upgraded. They had lovely toiletries and amenities. We thought the shower was a little dangerous. You have to climb into the deep tub to access it and there is no hand rail to grip onto and it gets slippery when the shower is on. Honestly quite odd as hotels are normally very attune to this. The WiFi in the room was non existent. Worked fine downstairs. Breakfast was plentiful and served buffet style with both hot and cold options but the quality was average on the hot food. We had some drinks in the bar which whilst nice were very expensive even for Rome. The gym was very small - like a home gym and had limited equipment. The pool however looked fabulous but we didn’t have time to try it. Hotel is well located and an easy 20 min walk to most places (shorter for the Vatican). Whilst the hotel is perfectly comfortable and staff were great we were just disappointed with what we got for the price point.

We booked this luxury hotel for a special weekend. Our room was quiet and comfortable and breakfast very good. We used the swimming pool on both days after sightseeing in Rome and this was a very good experience. Follie restaurant is spectacularly good. When things went wrong,matters were fixed to our entire satisfaction. The only drawback is the location - if you plan to go to Central Rome you will need a taxi and even the Vatican which is nearby involves a steep climb back to the hotel.
