Just a stone’s throw away from Rome’s main artistic hangouts, this exclusive temple of luxury and relaxation blends in perfectly with its surroundings. Wander through the narrow streets, where culture and history burst out from every corner. This charming five-star hotel features an exquisite design and is surrounded by Mediterranean gardens with stunning panoramic views of Rome and a relaxing atmosphere. Villa Agrippina Gran Meliá, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, is an exclusive indulgence retreat just a stone's throw from the Eternal City's main artistic gems, being the closest hotel to the Vatican and the Sistine chapel. Named after the first Roman empress, the property boasts an impeccable design that oozes culture and history, featuring panoramic views, a lush Mediterranean garden, delicious fine local cuisine and a spectacular outdoor swimming pool - not at all common in Roman hotels - to round off a picture-perfect stay in this captivating city.

Beautiful property. Spendy! Good service but for a few lazy reception workers. Not as close to main attractions as other reviews may lead you to believe, and few cabs. Even fewer Ubers. Clean, by Italy standards. Excellent breakfast buffet! One of the best I’ve experienced. Restaurant staff in Gala for dinner was lazy, too, except for Juan. Juan seemed, at times, to be one of few working. Friendly. The person who gave the tip about walking through the car park is a genius!

Our stay at Villa Agrippina Gran Meliá was absolutely exceptional. This is without question one of the best hotels in Rome if you want to combine luxury sightseeing with a real vacation atmosphere. The service was outstanding from start to finish — professional, attentive, and genuinely high-end. The location is perfect: walking distance to the Vatican and Rome’s historic center, yet the hotel feels peaceful and private. Before booking, I seriously considered other top luxury hotels in Rome, including Bvlgari Hotel Roma and several other famous five-star properties. However, what ultimately made Villa Agrippina stand out was something the others simply could not offer: incredible suites with truly spectacular terraces and views. What makes this hotel truly unique is the atmosphere. You can spend the day exploring Rome and then come back to relax by the amazing outdoor pool, almost like being at a luxury summer resort. Very few hotels in central Rome can offer this combination. In my opinion, it makes little sense to book other luxury hotels in Rome — even more expensive ones — if they don’t offer outdoor space or balconies. Here you can stay in spectacular suites with enormous 120m² terraces, large private jacuzzis, and breathtaking views over the Vatican, the old city, and the Tiber River. The terrace experience alone makes this hotel special and very difficult to match anywhere else in Rome. Another huge advantage: the jacuzzi water is very warm, so it’s perfectly usable even during colder months. After getting out, the terrace area still feels comfortable and cozy, which creates an amazing experience in the evening. One useful tip: it is worth calling the central reservation office of Meliá Hotels International directly before booking. In many cases you can negotiate a noticeably better rate than on Booking.com or other hotel platforms. This hotel offers something extremely rare in Rome: a true luxury resort feeling right in the middle of the city. Highly recommended.

This is a very nice hotel. The people are very friendly. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The Vatican is a short walk and there are many excellent restaurants within A short walk.

A beautiful junior suite had all the amenities we wanted and all the space we needed for luggage from several weeks of touring and shopping. Staff were as accommodating as could be. The spa staff were both warm and very professional; appertivo at sunset by the pool was perfect. We could walk almost anywhere we wanted to go in Rome. It's really a bit of an oasis!

At this level, I do not expect to be commenting on the basics. At this level, a good hotel is one that makes me feel like a welcome guest and a friend. I didn't find it here. Instead, I found staff who were stiff, operating according to some head office manual, not allowed to express their own skills and regimented into a corporate culture that made me, as a guest, feel like a unit of revenue. I have found this before at Meliá. It's a great pity. They have here a beautiful building in a good location. The staff are obviously a credit to the brand. So please, trust them and stop regimenting them. And definitely stop doing this hand on chest gesture. It looks very silly! Finally, the prices of drinks are ridiculous.

The best hotel in Rome. Congratulations to the management of the Gran Melia Rome for an extremely well-organized hotel.
