We had a wonderful stay at Monte Mulini and really enjoyed the combination of luxury, peace and the beautiful setting. The location is probably one of the hotel’s biggest strengths. It is surrounded by greenery, right by the sea, with lovely walking paths along the coast and an easy walk into the old town of Rovinj. You really get the feeling of being in a resort while still being close to everything. Our room was very comfortable and beautifully maintained, and the whole hotel has a calm, elegant atmosphere without feeling too formal. The pool and beach areas are lovely and perfect for relaxing during the day with a lot of small touches as cold face towels, ice espresso shots etc. Breakfast was excellent, with a very good choice and high-quality food. We also really appreciated the Molton Brown bathroom amenities — a small detail, but such a nice touch and they smelled amazing! What stood out most was the service. The staff throughout the hotel were professional, friendly and parking guys were amazing, super helpful which made the whole stay feel very easy and relaxing. Monte Mulini is not inexpensive, but it delivers the kind of quality and service you expect from a hotel at this level. We left feeling very rested and would happily return. A beautiful place to stay in Rovinj and definitely one we would recommend.

Monte Mulini is, without question, a beautiful and very high-end hotel, and there are several members of staff who deserve special recognition. First of all, the breakfast and dinner team for the half-board service deserves enormous praise. The staff are exceptionally polite, warm and professional. Even when small issues occurred, they handled everything perfectly, always professionally and always with a smile. A special compliment goes to the team members from Serbia, particularly the ladies, who were absolutely fantastic throughout our stay. Their attitude, kindness and professionalism are exactly what you would expect from a hotel of this level. The same goes for the team at Monte Mulini Beach. The gentlemen from Serbia, together with the Croatian ladies working there, provided outstanding service. They are constantly smiling, attentive and helpful, even while serving guests in temperatures close to 40°C. Nothing ever seems to be too much trouble for them. Truly excellent service and a team the hotel should be very proud of. Unfortunately, there is one area where our experience was completely different: the two valet/bell staff members who welcome guests at the hotel entrance, take care of the cars and assist with luggage. For a five-star boutique hotel of this calibre — and at this price level — I simply do not think the hotel can afford to have such an important first point of contact operating below the professional standards of the rest of the property. The arrival experience is extremely important. It creates the guest’s very first impression of the hotel, especially at a luxury property such as Monte Mulini. Unfortunately, in our experience, these two gentlemen were far below the level of professionalism, hospitality and attitude that should be expected from a five-star hotel. This contrast is particularly noticeable because so many other members of the Monte Mulini team are genuinely exceptional. Overall, we had many very positive experiences, and the quality of the restaurant and beach staff deserves the highest praise. However, I strongly believe management should look carefully at the arrival/valet service, because the first impression should reflect the same exceptional standard that guests experience from the best members of the Monte Mulini team.

What a fabulous place Rovinj is! We loved it and loved this hotel. The pools were fabulous and never full. Rooms were also great, we did ask for a mattress topper after reading comments on here about the mattress being too firm. The hotel is absolutely spotless everywhere! Staff: the two ladies in the green dresses in the restaurant were brilliant, they manage front of house for the restaurant. They were engaging and friendly and generally lovely. Breakfast: great choice for breakfast including cooked to order items. Overall we had a fabulous week .

The staff at the Monte Mulini are exceptional - so attentive, interested, kind and happy to be around. The place is completely spotless - excellently maintained at every level however the beds and pillows are so unbelievably hard, it is difficult to feel rested. The room did also have a feel of Premier Inn about it (other than the mattress comfort) which left it far below the five star experience that the staff try so hard to maintain. An improvement would be a lovely squishy mattress and pillows as well as sorting the weird valve by the door that loudly hisses intermittently throughout the daylight hours (thank goodness it stopped at night - no idea what it did). The staff aim to provide an excellent culinary experience also however I found the food to be either bland or over seasoned or inadequately cooked. I raised the latter issue during my stay; my concerns were dealt with swiftly and I am very happy with the hotel’s management and customer care in this regard, thank you. Overall, this is an elegant, well managed hotel with beautiful touches and excellent staff; a better bed, some personal touches to the rooms and, I don’t know, a greater sense of fun? might make it feel a bit more enjoyable. It all just felt a bit corporate, serious and intense! Oh, and to be clear - bag your sunbed before breakfast; it is a thing here (pool or beach), too.

This hotel has great facilities and is a short walk to lovely Rovinj. However, our short trip was a birthday present for my partner and we were really disappointed that a hotel which is branded luxury didn't bother to help us celebrate in any way - all my partner got was a handshake. Worse still, champagne was given to another couple sitting next to us who told us it was for a birthday. We mentioned this and were told we'd be given champagne on our last night which didn't happen. The staff at dinner were fairly good but breakfast staff/service very poor and we had to ask for tea/coffee and menus. The hotel needs to train its staff at Reception in customer service too. We are long standing worldwide travellers but this was by far the worst adults-only 5 star we have stayed in - not because of the hotel itself but because of the poor customer service and attention to detail that one would expect.
