Reviews for Hotel Monte Mulini

Nothing is too much trouble!

Great stay at this beautiful hotel in a stunning location. The staff and facilities are all great. They are about to refurbish the whole thing over the winter. We sincerely hope that they manage to retain the wonderful atmosphere and character they already have here!

Breakfast fit for Kings 👑

Lovely hotel, huge room on floor 1 - bathroom was massive and appreciated the Molton Brown toiletries. Spa was great, although used the one in next door hotel Lone more often. Have seen comments about no direct usb charging and agree this would be a very useful addition. Location is good, it’s peaceful with the sea just steps away and nearby forest park to explore. Best thing about this hotel in my opinion was the staff at breakfast, they are a joy! Especially Sandra and Tanja who were so welcoming and friendly to us. Good selection of hot and cold food for breakfast, served from 7am to 12 noon so no need to rush! Tiny gripes, had mentioned to hotel we were celebrating 20 years wedding anniversary this year, nothing in room to acknowledge which was a bit disappointing tbh. Staff on reception whilst helpful and polite, could learn a thing or two from breakfast staff and room cleaning staff who were cheerful and always very friendly. Sounds like hotel is being refreshed over winter, sure it will be lovely. Far too expensive for us in hotel restaurants at night, so always walked into Rovinj for meals - would mention here to try balbi and Santa Croce for great food. We had a drink in Lobby bar one evening, lovely local wine but no atmosphere so didn’t return.

2025 stay number 5

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Our return visit to Monte Mulini had been long anticipated. We were sorry to see that many of the staff we had known from previous occasions were not around… and there seemed to be an air of slight unhappiness with some as to the frequent changes that had occurred this season. I can understand as I believe this was in an attempt to try and get the evening dining options in line with what is actually required by guests. Sadly as noted by other reviewers both the main restaurant and the wine vault are extremely expensive and certainly not at all full leading to them both lacking atmosphere. Indeed whilst we did eat in the wine vault we both ended up very unwell the next day… A suggestion for 2026 would be to have pizza / pasta restaurant that provides good value for money, The breakfasts remain outstanding with great service. however, The pool bar staff were not at all attentive.. and indeed I noted on two occasions dirty glasses etc that were not collected promptly and were still there by the end of the day. For a hotel that prides itself on high standards, there was certainly something amiss on this occasion with staff morale. Hopefully next time all will be more positive.

Big Hit…….with a Few Misses

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

It’s completely understandable why this hotel receives such glowing reviews and is such a hit with clients. However in our opinion there are also a few areas that maybe management will take note of once the hotel has competed its scheduled refurbishment this winter. The beachside location, pools, sunbeds and attendants, cleanliness, rooms, superb breakfast, friendly staff and closeness to Rovinj all make for a great holiday destination. In our opinion for a five star hotel there were some things that management might like to consider. The two restaurants, The Wine Vault and Mediterraneo are both quite exclusive and expensive therefore as a consequence when we were there (hotel was full) were quite empty most evenings and therefore lacked any atmosphere. It appeared to us most people walked into Rovinj where there are plenty of lovely restaurants where you can eat and drink much cheaper. The poolside bar is a great facility however again the prices for drinks and lunch time food to us seem excessive. The bar staff were lovely however it would have been nice if they walked around the sunbeds asking people if they would like a drink. The only time this happened was when we were offered a shot of cold coffee which was disgusting. They must have been cleaning out their coffee machines that day !! In talking to other guests it appeared a lot of people just went for a late breakfast as this is served until midday rather than eat lunch at the poolside bar. The Lobby bar is again a great facility but we never saw it busy and again as such lacked atmosphere. The prices are far too high to attract people in when you can get a drink within a 10 minute walk away. My wife ordered a Baileys with ice and received a 30ml shot in a sherry type glass for €7.50 The rooms are nice and are being refurbished this winter with hopefully more drawers space as clothes storage is limited. Make sure you have a room on either the 2nd or 3rd floors as if your get a 1st floor room you’ll be looking into the trees. All in all we had a lovely holiday and above are just a few areas that just in our opinion with little more thought could make this resort truly exceptional

Blissful relaxation

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Our second visit to this most relaxing and deeply indulgent hotel, set in a beautiful, green and lush, historic nature park setting with serene and calm bay swimming. The Mulini hotel stands out superior in our opinion compared to the seemingly sterile and almost institutional looking Grand Park Hotel along the way. The Mulini is quietly more sophisticated, stylish and picturesque, with faultless and kind staff throughout. See to it that you place this hotel on your next booking visit!
