With its steepled roof, traditional carillon and symbolic cross, it would be easy to mistake Aranwa Sacred Valley as a place of worship. A jagged Peruvian mountaintop serves as the backdrop for this property, located in Urubamba, about a 30-minute drive from Cusco. Built on a plot of land where an 18th-century colonial hacienda once stood, this riverside hideaway, features a collection of historically-inspired rooms coupled with modern elements and a minimalist design. Architectural excellence abounds at every turn, from the glass-covered orchid pyramid to the 24-seat on-site theater.

Although we only stayed for one night, the experience was unique. A really beautiful place surrounded by the Peruvian nature, there is also an old hacienda in one part of the hotel. The staff was really helpful and polite and always with a big smile.

Great experience at Aranwa with my family, we were 2 adults and 3 kids. The service is outstanding! The rooms are clean and very spacious. The breakfast buffet is included and it’s great.

Gorgeous place, but fallen from grace. The hot tub is not hot, and the rooms are clean-ish. There is no service at the pool, and the foosball table is broken. Breakfast is in a large room, but the selection is meager. The place was pretty empty too. Not sure what happened, but I hope they can invest and bring it back up to where it should be

We had an amazing time at the Aranwa. The scenery was amazing, the Spa was top notch, the rooms were spacious and comfy, the onsite food was great, and the staff was incredibly attentive and friendly. I traveled with my parents who have significant challenges breathing at altitude, and the hotel was able to provide oxygen tanks (for a fee) that made sleeping at night easy for them. A special thanks to the staff members Gaulberto, Miuler, Ursula, Alfred, and Lynn for always checking in on us and making sure our entire stay was comfortable and a truly special experience. If you are looking for a beautiful hotel with great amenities and stellar staff before heading to Machu Picchu, then the Aranwa should be at the top of your list!
