Our stay at Fairmont St Andrews was nothing short of exceptional. We were lucky enough to receive this stay as a gift from close friends to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, and what an unforgettable way to mark such a special occasion. From the moment we arrived, every member of staff made us feel genuinely welcome. The warmth, friendliness and professionalism shown throughout our stay was truly world class. Nothing was too much trouble, and every interaction made us feel valued as guests. Our room was absolutely beautiful—immaculately clean, spacious, luxurious and with stunning views. It was the perfect place to relax and celebrate together, and every detail had clearly been thought through. A special mention has to go to Sean from Kittocks Bar. His customer service is genuinely outstanding. His attention to detail, friendly personality and the way he acknowledged our wedding anniversary made our evening even more memorable. Sean is a fantastic ambassador for the Fairmont and a real credit to the hotel. We would also like to recognise Phil, the concierge, whose professionalism, welcoming nature and willingness to help really stood out. He went above and beyond to ensure our stay was seamless, and his passion for looking after guests was evident from the moment we arrived. It’s people like Sean, Phil and the rest of the incredible team that make the Fairmont such a special place. Luxury hotels can provide beautiful rooms, but it’s the people who create unforgettable memories—and the team here certainly did that. To everyone at the Fairmont St Andrews, thank you for making our first wedding anniversary so special. We will treasure the memories we made and can’t wait to return. Five stars simply doesn’t seem enough!

I rated our stay as excellent because the good staff are great but there is some serious training needed for some of them. Seamless check in with Lexi who was excellent, she went above and beyond. She will remember why (I was the lady who lost her purse!). Thank you Lexi. Lovely room 3040 overlooking the bay and golf course with St Andrews town in the distance. Would be helpful to have instructions on how to work/set the aircon as it transpired the unit by the door is for the underfloor heating in the bathroom. Toiletries are wall mounted. Oddly next to our hand basin was a “shower gel” dispenser? No body lotion is provided which should be in a hotel of this standard. We ate in the Sports bar on our first evening which was empty. Limited menu of 6 options which included a vegan burger. The menu said “ask for our daily specials” but we were told there were none. A waitress came out with a plate of what looked like chicken wings (not on the menu) I asked “ are they chicken wings” she looked at the plate and her reply was “I don’t know” and then she walked off. On leaving I noticed two people had spaghetti carbonara. We went initially to eat in the Kittocks bar, it was empty. I stood at the bar and the three staff were oblivious of my presence, two females stood talking a the guy behind the bar wandered off. So we left there. Breakfast the following morning was excellent, the staff we encountered exactly as you would expect.in a hotel of this calibre and reputation, engaging, professional and attentive. We ate in the Bay restaurant one lunchtime and one evening. Super food and excellent service. I would add as others have on Tripadvisor, I’d be pretty annoyed if we couldn’t have eaten here due to a private function as this is the only restaurant to get decent food. Breakfast the next day was poor, order taken by a waitress, it never arrived. I spoke to another waitress and said can you ask your colleague (I pointed her out) where the order is. She just looked at me and wandered off, doing nothing. I then asked a lady in a suit who confirmed the order had never been taken. Golf - two rounds both excellent, courses fabulous. Staff all super and certainly on a different level to some in the main hotel. Now I appreciate finding good hospitality staff in this climate is probably challenging but my god there are some bad ones here. Either a training issue or just never going to make the grade. I’d suggest it’s the latter. My feedback is meant to be constructive, you have some great staff here who deserve the gratuity automatically added to every bill but I’d have rather given them a tip directly, we’ve been rewarding staff who frankly don’t deserve to benefit. It might make the poor staff up their game when they see what they could earn by stepping up in their roles. To summarise, we did have a lovely stay, two nights and golf it was fantastic just not consistent good service.

Our group of 12 stayed 4 nights in June. Convenient to town and all the courses in the local area. Two courses are on property- The Kittocks has the best views of the two. Service was fantastic and consistent. Breakfast was amazing and the dinner options in the hotel and at the clubhouse were just right. The goal for some In our group was 36 holes per day and the two courses on-site make it possible as long as you can tee off for the evening round no later than 6pm. Managed to get 54 holes on one day- Torrance at 7:30am, Castle Course at 11:45am and The Kittocks at 5:50pm. Play the last round quickly as you need to be seated for dinner by 9:15. Lots of golf possible by staying at this clean, comfy, service-oriented resort.

We stayed the night at the Fairmont St Andrews to celebrate a 21st. Lovely place & feels luxurious as you walk in. Afternoon tea was fabulous - thanks to Joseph & meghana for looking after us so well …be prepared to take cakes home!!! However don’t order room service - we had to send our pizzas back uneaten. Reception handled this well the next morning & removed it from our bill. All in though it was a lovely stay and we will go back.

I have been a member of the gym and spa at the Fairmont for five years and have always enjoyed using the facilities. Unfortunately, after visiting for the first time since the recent gym refurbishment, I feel the upgrade is actually a significant downgrade. The new layout appears poorly thought out from a practical training perspective. Basic exercises are now difficult to perform. For example, I attempted to do a seated cable row using a bench, but the bench continually slid across the floor, making the exercise impossible to perform safely and effectively. It feels as though a large amount of money has been spent on replacing equipment for the sake of having newer, more modern-looking machines, when the previous equipment was perfectly adequate. A few additional machines may have enhanced the gym, but a complete overhaul seems unnecessary given the result. What is particularly frustrating is that while substantial investment has been made in new equipment, long-standing issues remain unresolved. Shower gel and shampoo are frequently unavailable in the changing rooms, and the temperature is often so warm that you begin sweating again immediately after showering. The refurbishment gives the impression that the gym was designed by people with limited understanding of how a functional training space should be laid out and used. The only aspects that continue to stand out positively are the excellent staff and the spa facilities. Unless improvements are made, I believe the gym risks losing a number of long-term members. At £115 per month, members should expect a gym that is both well-equipped and thoughtfully designed, and unfortunately the current setup falls short of that standard.
