⸻ Really disappointed – not what you’d expect from a 5-star hotel I was really excited to try this place as the pictures looked amazing and the idea of dining in a pod sounded like a fun experience. Unfortunately, the reality was incredibly disappointing. The food was awful – we ordered a charcuterie board, which turned out to be a few bits of meat and cheese thrown onto a plain white dinner plate. There was zero presentation, and it honestly looked like something you’d get at a budget café, not a luxury hotel. The cocktails were just as bad – they tasted like they hadn’t been made properly, with no balance or care. We ended up sending them back. Inside the pod, we were hoping for a cosy and private vibe, but instead had to deal with cigarette smoke drifting in from outside, which completely ruined the atmosphere. Service was also poor. Our waitress was grumpy and clearly not interested. She didn’t bring side plates for our food at first, then came back with the wrong number, not even bothering to check how many people were at the table. To top it off, there’s no view at all from inside the pod, which made the whole experience feel even more pointless. Next time, I’d skip the pod entirely – maybe just grab a drink at the bar to enjoy the view (but definitely not a cocktail). For a place attached to a 5-star hotel, this was unbelievably bad.

Enjoyed the Road Hole bar with a lovely table overlooking the Old Course. The Bar Menu was disappointing choice ,,,limited ...but we enjoyed what was ordered. Staff very attentive friendly and professional. Comfortable furnishings and facilities as expected for an AA 5-star Hotel. Look forward to our return again

Hotel was beautiful and full of history. Rooms were lovely and the shower was incredible. Breakfast was amazing, probably the best included breakfast we've ever had. We traveled to St. Andrews with a family, ages 6,11 & 15. I'm pretty sure they were the only children in the hotel, so I wasn't surprised when there were a few stares from the hotel greeters.

We went to the new champagne-led sunday experience and we loved it despite the on and off showers, this was so perfect and also such good value for money! we had a picnic box filled with sandwiches and picky bits, then we got to help ourselves to the grazing station and sweet station- very happily surprised by the vegan options!! 😃 we got tokens for champagne, or if youre looking for a non alcoholic version, they had their 'french bloom' so you absolutely didn't miss out! All the staff were so lovely and accommodating, our waiter Aaron was great and helped with any questions we had. Definitely would recommend!

Swilken loft was very poor experience. VERY over priced and we are locals used to St Andrews prices. Bottle of water £5.50 is ridiculous. Scallop starter supposed to be for sharing ONE forkful with nothing else. Rib eye sent back twice to be cooked to medium. To share for 2 at £90 with every side dish, potatoes etc £7. The food was very forgettable. The staff were lovely but the place was empty ( not surprised ) even tho it was a Friday night. No atmosphere . There are far better places to eat in town. Our bill for three ? £320 plus. We will not be back and we will not recommend. Embarassed we took our guest.
