An 8 Star Luxury Hotel At The Birthplace of God, Saint Andrews, Scotland

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

I have been afforded a rare opportunity in life to have travel to and stay in some of the finest hotels in 149 nations. I also realize there are two hotels in the world that use 7 Star by their names. Yet, when it comes to the Old Course Hotel, this luxurious property is an 8 star ranking. I give this ranking to views from the hotel, to the value of the entire hotel team, to the volume of the food and its quality, to the victorious spirit throughout the hotel. The Old Course Hotel is where the champions stay and where the hotel team live like champions. We had 62 guests and played Carnoustie, Jubilee, and The Old Course.

Afternoon Tea experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This review is based on the afternoon tea experience at the Old Course, the actual waiting staff provided very good service. This is the second time visiting the Old Course Hotel for an afternoon tea and I was previously impressed with the quality of the food and the service. However, they've changed how they do afternoon tea. Guest are given the plate of 5 sandwiches first and then the cake stand comes later. In theory, this may seem like a sensible approach, however, our group of five experienced a significant delay in the cake stand arriving, so much so, we had to ask. Take into account, everything on the cake stand is already made, this seemed like an unnecessary delay. I hope they change it back to how it used to be as this 'new' approach seems to just create more issues for the staff and customers. Great views!

Road Hole Dinner - a triumph !

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Went on the 6th August to celebrate my birthday with dinner in the Road Hole Restaurant. I have eaten there several times in the past and never been disappointed. Stunning location and the food is of a consistently high standard. The staff are always very pleasant and helpful. Would recommend.

History meets comfort

What a beautiful hotel located on the coastline. Of course, the golf course is the main attraction but the hotel is lovely and we were pampered for our entire stay. Upon arrival we were given an upgrade and a late checkout which was very much appreciated. You must be an I Prefer member for this. The room was lovely and very spacious. The bed comfortable, the sitting area very nice and the bathroom beautiful and spacious. From the beginning, we felt welcome and attended to. Robert was the first to greet us as he helped us with our bags and parked the car. He was so helpful also giving us the lay of the land and giving us recommendations for the area Daily breakfast is delicious and the buffet was enough for us each day. We highly recommend The Old Course Hotel.

A hotel with incredible views and personal service.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

From the moment we were greeted by Robert at the entrance to the hotel we knew it would be a memorable experience. He asked if he could help and advised us where to go for a light lunch. He also mentioned the Champagne Event which was held every month. Robert kindly took some pictures of us. We had an excellent lunch overlooking the Old Course and service was very good. The hotel was well appointed and many excellent seating areas. After lunch we were going to walk to Auchterlonie's Golf shop but my sister walks with a stick and decided she would not be able to make it. We returned and met Robert again who was with another employee. Looking at my sister they conversed and it was suggested that Robert drove us the short distance into town. My son said "Robert's kindness has restored my faith in humanity." I am sure that the Old Course has a high standard of employees and Robert proved that. Personable and caring.
