Stayed at the Rufflets for a midweek break. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Overall, very happy with our experience there. My only criticism is that we found the bed a little uncomfortable but not majorly so.

Lovely hotel with nice ambience. Issue with bedding immediately resolved. Missing items in the bar possibly due to the hotel just reopening after winter break. Standard double room clean and cosy. Full marks for breakfast, food and service excellent. Staff friendly and helpful.

We stayed two nights for our wedding Anniversary and my Husbands Birthday and we weren’t disappointed in fact it was a breath of fresh air to actually check into a hotel where all the staff were lovely from reception to housekeeping and everything in between. Lewis, Natalie and Sarah to name but a few I’d like to say a huge thank you for your caring approach to the job you do. The food was amazing and tweaked to our preferences so thank you also to all the behind the scenes staff that we didn’t see but played a huge roll in giving us amazing hospitality. I wish I’d got all their names. From arriving to leaving not once did any of them say anything other than yeah I’m sure we can sort that for you. The hotel is a little tired in places I would definitely say but the location and the grounds especially if you got good weather is pretty fabulous. It was Clean, comfortable and very welcoming and for me that beats any up to the minute fancy hotel where the staff are paid to do a job but don’t actually pay attention to any guests needs that come to stay. Family friendly all the way and that’s what the Rufflets Hotel brings to St Andrews. It’s the best spent hard earned cash we’ve had the pleasure to part with in a long time. Thanks to each and everyone of you.

A beautiful building with comfortable, spacious rooms and excellent food served in the restaurant. However, our stay was ruined by curt, unhelpful, and passive-aggressive staff who try to spend their lives evading work in the 'office' which they have turned into a common room. One member of staff in particular - she wears a micro-kilt and has piercings (which turned out to be a warning sign) - did everything she could to ruin our stay and that of other residents by bullying other staff into either not helping guests at all or helping them as slowly as possible (I heard her do so when making my way down the staircase on the first day). When I did venture to the office to ask for service at reception, the bar or restaurant (sometimes on behalf of other guests who had been waiting for ten minutes or more for signs of life) I was greeted with a lot of eye-rolling and huffing from staff sat on desks (with Ms Micro Kilt leading the way). We will never go back, and other guests staying at the same time said the same. But I must mention that fantastic service we got in the restaurant from a young catering student called Samantha. If Rufflets only hired people like Sam it would be tens times better for it.

Overall, the hotel largely met my expectations. It is a beautiful place, with comfortable rooms, excellent food, and a great deal of Scottish charm. My stay began on a disappointing note. with a problem in the bathtub that was not fixed, but aside from that the stay was very enjoyable.
