The dignified, turreted Rufflet's Country House Hotel is one of the oldest established country manor hotels in Scotland. This member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World is set in 10 acres of award-winning gardens just a mile west of St. Andrews and has been awarded 5 Stars by the Scottish Tourist Board. The main house and two separate lodges offer exquisite guestrooms and suites, all furnished with a tasteful blend of contemporary and antique styles. Fresh local produce and prime Scottish beef highlight fine dining at the Garden Restaurant, recipient of a much-coveted two AA Rosettes.

A lovely stay in St Andrews. The highlight for me was the beautiful gardens, which give the hotel a special atmosphere and make it feel wonderfully peaceful and quiet despite being close to town. My room was comfortable and full of character, and the service and overall experience was warm and enjoyable. One night was not enough. I'd happily come back, not least to see the gardens in a different season and experience them from a new perspective.

Old style of hotel with all kind of today's comfort features, within short distance of St Andrews. Traditional layout and furniture in very good shape. Although older style, it felt fresh and clean everywhere, also bathrooms, that was of modern type. Food and service from bar and restaurant was very good. The big garden both the recreational part and the kitchen part offered many possibilities to interesting walk in peaceful and beautiful surroundings

The place is gorgeous, like something out of a masterpiece theatre production, classic British decor and beautiful gardens. But beware: there are different types of accommodation and if you are warehoused in a far-off trailer as we were it is not an optimal experience. The trailer may provide for those who seek a unique experience but I was not given the option to be shunted off into the woods in a cramped caravan - I’ll acknowledge that I didn’t ask for a change, my fault. As to the food… delicious and well presented, however, my husband and I developed serious stomach issues in the middle of the night. While it may not have been associated restaurant, the coincidence is striking since we didn’t eat anywhere else in St Andrews.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the beautiful Rufflets Hotel. Our family-sized suite was large and had incredible views of the property. The quaint dining room offered a plentiful breakfast with great service. There is lots of property to walk and enjoy including the areas where they grow their own produce/tea/hops. The homemade shortbread in our room was so delicious too!

Rufflets is a superb, small hotel located a 20-minute walk (or five-minute drive if you prefer) from the centre of St Andrews. The decor is stylish, the (extensive) gardens beautiful, the dinner menu choices extensive and the bar drinks range absolutely what you would expect from a quality hotel in Scotland. The staff are without fail friendly and helpful; and the kitchen clearly works to very high standards, producing some truly memorable dishes. Overall I highly recommend this place.
