The dignified, turreted Rufflet's Country House Hotel is one of the oldest established country manor hotels in Scotland. This member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World is set in 10 acres of award-winning gardens just a mile west of St. Andrews and has been awarded 5 Stars by the Scottish Tourist Board. The main house and two separate lodges offer exquisite guestrooms and suites, all furnished with a tasteful blend of contemporary and antique styles. Fresh local produce and prime Scottish beef highlight fine dining at the Garden Restaurant, recipient of a much-coveted two AA Rosettes.

Good - but not a cheap date - St Andrews is expensive and Rufflets reflects that wholeheartedly. Staff - especially the bar staff (sorry don't know his name) and Breakfast waitress - both fantastic.

Great location for Dundee and St Andrews. Food and service was excellent, and good value for money. Would stay again if visiting area.

Hotel has huge potential and gets many things right but maintenance seems to be an issue. We stayed in a shepherds hut and these were lovely however there was a collection of issues that appeared over our 1 night that shouldn’t have happened. Feedback was provided to the hotel at checkout and by email and surprisingly not acknowledged. Issues included fluff on the floor suggesting superficial cleaning, patio furniture with moss so needing a power wash. Lock to the hut was very difficult to operate. Electric candles with flat batteries and a bathtub (main feature of the room) that had a problem with the plug so could not be filled. Staff were always pleasant and helpful when you dealt with them but I got the sense they were not empowered to address the issues which may explain the lack of acknowledgment to us raising them.

Magnificent Gardens, Fine Dining and Warm Hospitality just outside of St Andrew’s. Our 3 generation family trip including 2 toddlers was highly successful thanks to the hospitality and beautiful rural setting of Rufflets.

Staff are very helpful, restaurant is great, just expensive but it's in a good location to st Andrews many restaurants. A bit tired, rooms are a little basic (was in a standard room) but staff are very nice.
