A wonderful relaxing oasis

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

My husband and I went here because he had a work event and then we added another night on for just the two of us to stay, which I’m so glad we did. We enjoyed the pool together, the grounds were amazing like a tropical oasis. We headed down about a block from the hotel to a restaurant called the old city house inn which was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend going there for dinner. The whole day was so relaxing and such enjoyable time. Everything was wonderful.

Wonderful location, beautiful gardens

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

The Collector Inn is adults only, meaning no children, and for us, that was important as we are an older, retired couple. The Inn is a group of buildings/small houses nestled in beautiful gardens with cobblestone walkways. The buildings that contain the rooms all have their own separate, independent garden space. Nothing like a regular hotel where everyone is in a cookie cutter room down a long, drab hallway. Like entering an oasis is how I would describe the walk from the street through the gate of the Inn. The location is excellent as a starting point for daily adventures in Saint Augustine. The Inn is bordered by Saint George Street and a 5 minute walk from numerous places to visit and explore i.e. Flagler College, The Lightner Museum, Al if the shops, restaurants and bars along Saint George Street, etc. in the opposite direction is the Saint Augustine Fish Shack where we had the best oysters I’ve had anywhere other than The Sansom Street Oyster House in Philadelphia. The oysters were cold water oysters from Virginia and they were fantastic. Crab cakes were good too. There is a French Restaurant a few blocks from the Inn La Nouvelle. Service and quality of food was excellent. La’Orange for dessert! We purchased trolley tickets at the front desk at the Inn which allowed us toe access the trolley all day. The trolley has I believe 16 stops and the driver narrates all along the trip. You can also get on and off at any trolley stop and explore and then hop back on and continue. I highly recommend the trolley. You’ll get a good overview of the town and can determine where you want to and what you want to see from there. Back to the Inn. It has a heated salt water pool. Did I mention no kids! The Inn also has its own small bar called The Well that opens every afternoon and serves drinks in a quaint small building set in the gardens amongst the houses that contain g(e rooms, the gardens all contain sculptures and lots of flowering plants. It’s quite beautiful. And quiet. Like I said, an oasis. We had a lovely room with a soft, king size bed. The room was clean and has a Nespresso matching, small fridge, small sink, and a microwave. The bathroom was great. A large tiled shower stall with a wonderful rainfall shower head. And finally, breakfast is included and is served daily in the administration building at the entrance. It was great. Cinnamon raisin bread, bagels, cream cheese, croissants, cereal, huge blackberries (yum), fresh blueberries, grapefruit, frittatas (main protein changes daily), bacon, biscuits/gravy, great coffee, blue muffins, pastries, etc… They have their own reverse osmosis sparking (or plain) water machine and provide nice sealed bottles to take water back to your room. I forgot… they have valet parking. Once they took our car we didn’t need it until we left 2 days later as we either walked or took the trolley. Everyone we met at the Inn, whether staff or other guests, were cheerful and friendly. True Southern hospitality! This was our first visit to the Inn and the town and we’ve already decided that we’ll definitely be returning this coming Winter. SR The Villages, FL.

Lots of charm. Beautiful grounds.

Beautiful grounds. Great location. Easy walk around the town. We enjoyed having a pool with the hot weather. The buildings are historic and have a lot of charm. Love that breakfast is served daily. There was enough of a variety for most. Highly recommend.

Some fabulous points and some other

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Parking is a nightmare! Crazy insane! Valet manager does not believe in hygiene so keep distance! Room was nice yet AC noisy! Pool was relaxing with soft music and the Well provides drinks. John was fab! Nashana, Valeria and Shana went out of their way to make the stay nice! We enjoyed the trolley tour around town. Nice restaurants to enjoy! It was worth the long drive for the vacation!

Nice Place But Watch Your Financials

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Nice place but for $500 per night WiFi in the room would be good, rather than having to go out into the hallway. Breakfast ladies are the best! Pool was great for the 105 degree heat index days. Location is perfect, parked the car and walked St Augustine for a week. Be careful when checking out as we were double charged and then told it was our problem to solve with our credit card company.
