The worst resort stay I have ever experienced either with Marriott, any other chain or at an independent. From.... . lack of pre-arrival services (no shuttle to the airport and taxi referrals that don't answer their phone) to 2. arrival (no staff at the entrance to assist with luggage) to 3. check-in (no greeting, barely any eye-contact and just handing me a key to a generic room) to 4. the first room which suffered from too many malfunctions (leaking sink in bathroom, leaking air conditioner) to 5. poor quality but expensive food at the restaurants (breakfast was mediocre to a bar restaurant with expensive menu selections that offered little meat portions or an avocado toast entree with more cucumber than avocado) to 6. lack of lounge chairs and lack of sun umbrellas (there was barely 10% availability of chairs and umbrellas available for existing guests) to 7. cleaning every other day not daily to 8. thin towels in the room that don't absorb well to 9. old linens and pillows on the bed that may not have been replaced in 10 years to 10. shabbiness of the entire resort lacking maintenance including the buildings to the common areas to the gardens to the pool to the gym. It was anything but a pleasant vacation. Given the poor quality experienced, the value is therefore poor. Would I ever stay here again? No, not even for free. Would I recommend it to others? No. The resort should be sold or shut down until competent management and leadership can be found as well as a better trained and managed staff as well as an adequate budget for guests events (which were none).

It was our first time in St. Croix and we picked this resort due to it being a Marriott property and our loyalty to the Bonvoy program. We read the reviews and still took a chance, but I guess we learned the hard way that we should believe the reviews, as the cons outweigh the pros. I'm surprised that Marriott still wants to associate with this property as I'm sure we're not the only Bonvoy customers to experience this after booking multiple rooms for a large family. Pros: 1. Beach location and seclusion 2. Breakfast servers were very friendly 3. Rooms were clean, although outdated. Cons: 1. Front desk/concierge service was poor. It feels like they are doing you a favor by addressing any need or question. 2. Lobby area has no working fans or AC 3. You have to beg for extra towels, linens, or shampoo. 4. There are no phones in any of the rooms, so you're at the mercy of messaging or calling for anything which will take an eternity to reach you. 5. Housekeeping is every other day, but it's inconsistent. 6. Food items run out often in the two restaurants. We saw on several occasions people placed an order and waited up to 40 minutes only for the server to come back and say they're sorry they don't have the item anymore. 7. Breakfast is average and not suited for those with gluten allergies. Your options are eggs and cantaloupe/melon. 8. You only get 2 complimentary water bottles a day. After that you will be charged $4 per 12 oz bottle. 9. We were told at check-in we would be able to check out at 2pm and on the day of checkout got told we have to check out by 11am. 10. Balcony doors often don't shut so you're going to deal with bugs all day. Overall, loved the beach and water, but the service and experience of this hotel was terrible for the price we paid per night being $2K a room.

We came to Carambola on a shore excursion with Royal Caribbean. The resort was wonderful and a special thank you to Shinike Christian for making the wonderful drinks and being a fabulous hostess!!

As a lot of other reviews state, this place is really run down. While my room was clean, it was beat up. Tiles missing, pieces of wood trim or parts of a wood door missing. The front door is wood slats so any bug can crawl right in to your room. I even had a small lizard make it in. No towels ever available at the pool. Housekeeping does not come everyday. Very few pool or beach chairs. Beautiful location and the beach is gorgeous. The staff was friendly and they were really trying, but seemed very stressed. There are a few local restaurants a few minutes down the main road that were all very good. The hotel’s bar is the only place we tried on the resort and it wasn’t that great. Not terrible, but I would not go there unless you have to. It’s too bad the upkeep is so poor because it has such potential.

I recently returned from my stay at Carambola and I really found the resort to be quite nice. The view and proximity to the beach view rooms is amazing. The rooms allow you to hear the ocean throughout the night and I loved sitting out on the balcony and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. The bed was very comfortable and I can be hard to please in this area. The shower was amazing. Great hot water and very spacious. While there are not many amenities on the property the location from a beauty standpoint was amazing. I’m so glad that I chose this property and did not allow the reviews to have me miss out on this blessing.

I purchased a package to the Carambola Beach Resort. We had the trip of a lifetime. Carambola was everything I had hoped it would be... exotically beautiful, complete with all the amenities we wished for and staffed with caring and committed people we can't wait to see again soon. Upon our return home we immediately went online and booked another Carambola Beach Resort in 2005.

My wife and I returned from our trip to The Carambola Resort on St. Croix about two weeks ago, and we haven't stopped dreaming of it since. The property was terrific, the food was excellent, and the hotel employees were gracious and helpful. Our room was right on the beach... the surf lulled us to sleep each evening and gently woke us in the morning. A wonderful getaway...
