Reviews for Six Senses La Sagesse

Beautiful place but lots of issues

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Now that our holiday break has come and gone I want to take a moment and share our experience at the new Six Senses in Grenada. I am not someone who usually writes reviews, but after this vacation I feel like I owe it to people thinking about booking this property. I also want to add that we are IGH platinum and have had wonderful experiences at other IHG properties like Kimpton Sea Fire. The lead up- Even before arrival things seemed odd. We were contacted by a team member to book activities, transfers etc and communication would stall. Weeks would go by without replies to our emails. Bookings that should have taken hours to secure took weeks. Several times we had to call Grenada to request an email reply. At the time we thought it was a bit odd, but hoped that service on property would be better. It was not. The good- The rooms and property (minus the beach) are spectacular. Rooms were large and well appointed. Plunge pools were immaculate, and the views were amazing. The main pool was also gorgeous. The food- The food and food service at this property were completely unacceptable for a hotel in this price range. Food was very expensive and not very good. The one positive that came out of this was the guests bonded over what a disaster the food service was. (On the bright side, the crowd at this hotel was very nice and unpretentious for such an expensive Christmas getaway. No chair hogs etc.) With only 2 restaurants on site and all other options 45 minutes away, guests would begin joking and grumbling about where and what they would eat the rest of the day after breakfast. Even by Caribbean standards lunch service at the pool was slow, and the food was inconsistent and often just wrong. More than once a simple burger on the kids’ menu was completely inedible. One day I tried to order a smoothie and then spent an hour waiting while they tried to locate a banana. In Grenada. The much talked about ice cream hut kept running out of ice cream. Menus at the dinner restaurants were very limited, expensive, and kitchen backups were frequent. Weirdly, there was no local cuisine offered and no attempt to bring the spirit of Six Senses to the menus. The beach- We knew going in that this was not a place to come for a typical Caribbean beach. However la Segasse bay is actually gorgeous and walking down to the opposite end of the crescent shows that the issues with this beach are in large part due to the negligence of Six Senses. The sandy area near the hotel was completely blocked off by a an eyesore of a rock wall with no path to allow for water entry. One must walk to the end of the properly and climb over unkept debris to even get in the water. This area is also adjacent to the new Intercontinental under construction next door. As this is also an IHG properly it is a huge miss that this area isn’t currently being used for its wider sand and better bay entry. There was also no effort to clear seaweed in any basic way near the property. In sum, the beach area is totally neglected for no apparent reason. This was especially upsetting as I had written the hotel prior to booking to ask about the condition of the bay near the property. The response I got was not honest, and had I not studied trip advisor prior to my trip I would have been hugely disappointed. The Spa- The spa and gym were lovely facilities but again the service was lacking. There were often no clean towels in the spa area to use with the plunge pools and saunas. The snacks in the spa and gym were not replenished, and one day the warm pool was cold despite multiple guest requests to turn the heat on. It was not broken. The yoga and mediation classes were very disappointing for any upscale resort, much less a Six Senses. This is an area where this resort should shine. I was so excited to participate in these classes, but after attending two, I stopped going as they weren’t as good as basic classes I can attend at home. For me this was a huge let down. Overall ambiance and service- We came to this resort because it was a Six Senses and really wanted to get a feel for the brand. Other than a small spice ceremony at arrival and departure, and some lovely spices left on our bed at turn down there was nothing about this resort that made it feel like a Six Senses. Several days they even had blasting club music by the pool. We came to Six Senses looking for a restorative, high service experience. We wanted to chill out, do some yoga and eat some healthy food. What we got was a resort with a serious identity crisis. One day we left the property and went to St Anse beach for a day pass at Silver Sands. The service there was impeccable. Six Senses Grenada needs to do better. I now wonder if it’s worth exploring other Six Senses or if they will be changed under IHG.

Awesome Experiences with Teon

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We had an excellent time in Grenada at the Six Senses. The resort is situated on a quieter part of the island that truly feels secluded. The resort is in a beautiful setting and the service / amenities are top notch. What made our stay extra special were the experiences we did with Teon. Teon took us on a hike to the Secret Window, which was a 10/10 experience – gorgeous and he does so much to make the experience as good as can be. We also did the bike tour which was a fantastic way to get up into the mountains and learn more about Grenada.

Six Senses Grenada — A Place That Stays With You

Six Senses Grenada — A Place That Stays With You This was one of the most special places we’ve ever stayed. The second we arrived, it felt calm and loving and warm. It was like the staff just instantly got us and wanted us to feel taken care of. Every part of the arrival was smooth, and the people set the tone for the whole trip: welcoming, genuine, and kind in a way you don’t always find. We stayed in a hillside villa, and the views were unreal. TRULY the most beautiful view I’ve ever seen and I’ve been a lot of places. The hills are what make it epic. Every villa has a gorgeous view with a perfect setup: the bed facing the ocean, a gorgeous bath with a view that felt like a dream, and the whole space just felt private and peaceful. You’re surrounded by nature but still feel totally comfortable and taken care of. Breakfast here deserves its own paragraph. It’s not just good, it’s amazing. Easily one of the best breakfast setting I’ve ever experienced. The views, the food, the vibe. You look around and everyone’s just happy. Honestly, every morning felt like a “pinch me” moment. The rest of the food was really good too, fresh and vibrant, but I do wish there had been a Thurs food concept - like sushi. That said, dinner at SeaFire was a highlight. Great energy, beautiful atmosphere, and perfect for families or couples. We spent our days doing a mix of everything — spa and wellness rituals (so relaxing), cooking classes, poolside lounging, even a little adventure off-property. It was the perfect balance. But what stood out most, more than the design or the food or even the views, was the staff. We travel a lot, and this team was on another level. Kind, present, thoughtful, and just real. They treated our whole family (including our 3-year-old) like gold. We felt so at home. This is the kind of place that works beautifully for families, but also for anyone who wants a reset. It’s beautiful, but it’s not showy. It’s peaceful, but not boring. It’s everything we hoped it would be and we’d go back in a heartbeat.

Nice Upscale Resort With a Couple Drawbacks

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Overall, it’s a very nice resort. Modern, new, well maintained. All the facilities are top notch. The restaurants offered nice settings. Service was good. However, the food was only OK. The biggest drawback is the property’s general lack of local character or personality. If you didn’t know where you were, it could be Palm Springs CA or Miami.

I had a wonderful breakfast.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I had a wonderful breakfast at this establishment. The atmosphere was peaceful and well-isolated, the environment was spotless, and the professionalism of every staff member on duty was truly commendable—especially my servers, Dajur and Sheronna. They ensured I never lacked anything and that my table was always promptly cleared. The food was exceptional, offering great taste and a wide variety of options. To top it all off, I was pleasantly surprised with a birthday treat, which made the experience even more special. This is definitely the place to visit when you need to escape, relax, and enjoy a well-deserved break.
