We stayed Sunday to Friday where we celebrated an anniversary and visited several nearby wineries. I recommend Alila for couples. We loved the walking distance to town, courtesy shuttle, and Trek bikes. The Wine Trail starts right at the property, making it easy to explore wineries to the north by bike (Krug, Markham, etc.). The valet/doormen are on post and super helpful, so bring cash for tips. All staff were a pleasure to interact with. The text number for requests was super responsive- use it! . We enjoyed the $75 Costco breakfast credit daily, be sure to double check when you check out- this is great value if you book on Costco Travel. The workout room was exceptional. There were just a few things to call out that affected our experience. When we checked in we shared it was a special anniversary. But nothing ever happened. 5 star hotels would do something special (chocolates in room, a flower, a bottle of champagne or wine). It was never recognized. The pool could have been warmer but it is very nice with plenty of comfortable loungers. Also, note the property is very intimate and small. Not a bad thing, but know there isn't a real "lobby." I often wake up early and enjoy escaping my room for some quiet time, but there was nowhere to go except sit outside, which was too cold in the mornings. They offer free self tap coffee in restaurant (fantastic), however they do not put it out until 7am (!!) so if you are early riser you have to make alt coffee plans. We were also disappointed the bar closed at 9 pm on weeknights which was right around time we would get back to our rooms from dinner and would enjoy a nightcap. Overall, St Helena is a pretty sleepy town with just about zero nightlife, and Alila takes on this personality as well. Overall our experience was great but it was not exceptional. I think 5 star hotels should be exceptional. This is more like a 4 star hotel. I would lean more like 4.5. This was our first Napa trip. If you are new to Napa or have not stayed here, you should check it out.

Alila Napa - Excellent Service but Lacking Amenities We just returned from our weekend stay at the Alila Napa resort, and while the weekend itself was relaxing and wonderful, the hotel was not what we expected from an establishment of this caliber. The staff was absolutely fantastic, and the property was extremely clean and well maintained. We loved being able to communicate with the front desk and concierge through the app. The service and food at the onsite restaurant were also excellent. We especially enjoyed the variety of breakfast menu options and the delicious, unique execution of everything we tried. However, the amenities in our hotel room were not what we are accustomed to seeing at other Alila resorts or hotels of this caliber. There were absolutely no snacks or beverages aside from refillable water bottles that were not even chilled. There were no fruit or snack deliveries throughout our stay and no turndown service. It was also surprising to see small plastic coffee creamer containers — something we honestly have not encountered in hotel rooms since staying at a Motel 6 nearly twenty years ago. While I did enjoy the Le Labo toiletries in the bathroom and shower, there were no makeup remover wipes, hair brushes, shaving products, or other thoughtful touches that are usually standard in five-star hotels. With so many wonderful resorts in the Napa area, we truly regretted spending our money here.

Very nice hotel, we had a vineyard view room with a fire pit which was great. The staff is great, very friendly and helpful. We’d definitely come back.

We had Queen vineyard facing room. The rooms were awesome, the staff were awesome, the valet service folks were amazing. We loved the experience. The only ding was the overall check-in process: We had asked for higher floor vineyard view when I had booked. We reached there around 3PM, and they mentioned room should be ready soon and final inspection was in-progress, fast forward it was 4PM!! Then the room was a ground floor room. We had to let them know our dissatisfaction, and the staff worked hard to make it right. Nick in front desk was great!
