The House by Elegant Hotels

Simply this hotel is outstanding! We visited for our 25th Wedding anniversary and we enjoyed every single moment of it! There is so much that is perfect we don’t know where to begin! However, the most outstanding part of the hotel is the staff! They simply went above and beyond every single day. Only after a few days they knew us, knew what we liked and always greeted us with smiles and kindness. There are so many outstanding staff members it is hard, as we don’t remember everyone (missed names does not mean you weren’t amazing) but here goes…. My favourite Shontelle, Kimella, Sophia, The most attentive Quacy. Shondelle. The legend that is Andrew. Andrea, Samuel, Best Barman Devere. Terry, Agnes and the best breakfast chef Pat! Then there is Andy, plus the ladies at front of house.The management team (Richard), Gate security, and of course the captain of the water taxi. The water taxi was brilliant to visit sister hotels and we used it to get us to places, complimentary water sports were such a bonus too! Finally the food, it was outstanding, the chefs should be so proud. Al a carte every night!!!! Thank you all , we will be back one day!! Anna and Elvis!!!

I am torn writing this as The House used to be an amazing Hotel. The staff are still there and would be the only reason to visit this hotel. They are great and treat you like family, even if it is your first visit or you are a repeat guest. So shouts out to Andrew, Terry, Wade, Devere, Sofia, Rawle, Shondelle and Shenae. However since the refit, you can tell it was rushed and done in the cheap. This should be the best hotel on the island like it used to be. It would not take much. Their main problem is communication or lack of. They never reply to emails before arriving to clarify things. Totally disinterested check in staff which is a shame as all other staff are great. We requested certain rooms due to noise issues on our last visit. Request ignored and given exactly the room we asked not to be put it. We asked about airport meet and transfer as we had before. Again ignored, so just grabbed a taxi. No issue. Sun loungers have been replaced with far inferior ones than before. They used to be great and we judged so many other hotels on them. Though the new one now are positioned so you can look out to sea. Before they were placed looking into pool. Towels were tired and lots had holes. Hopefully these have all been removed and replaced. Shower at beach exit has been removed, safe swimming area which used to be roped off now gone. This is a worry as the jet ski’s come flying round the corner from Mahogany bay. The old rattan furniture has just been painted white and not replaced. The paint was already peeling off when we visited. Contacted hotel on return and managed to talk with Jason who seemed to listen so again hopefully things improve. Unfortunately we will not be back.

We arrived at 1.30am due to flight delays and to be fair the Security / Reception dropped all check-in formalities and just gave us our key so we could get to bed. Our first day was full of orientation and finding our feet but once we did, what a place. I wouldnt say the room was palatial but was slightly better than Waves, thier sister property, where we have stayed before. We had a Junior Suite which was only one large room rather than being a couple of rooms that you would associate with a suite. The bathroom was well appointed. The staff are just different level here from Richard the Guest Services Mgr, Wade, Dennis and Devere on the bar, Shondelle and Shontelle in the Restaurant and not forgetting Andrew (and his terrible jokes) Also Glyne made and appearance who we knew from our stay at Treasure Beach. Collectively these and others not mentioned were possibly the best set of hotel staff we have encountered in Barbados and we were treated like part of the House family and this our first visit. One area they do excel in here is the food, Breakfast and Lunch are great but Dinner was a different level and certainly not your run of the mill All Incusive food. Dinner is menu based which we like apart from one night which was a buffet, but a really good quality buffet. THe quality and presentation of dinner was excellent and to top it all the Chef made rounds of the tables a couple of nights which exudes confidence in what he is doing. We booked to go to the Cliff Beach House for dinner one night but to be honest we wished we had stayed in the hotel which was of equal quality. It will be difficult for us to see past The House when booking our return to Babados next year. A big thank you to all at The House for an excellent stay.

What more can you say of this hotel which has not been said in the top 5 star reviews. A hotel is a living breathing space and the staff is the heartbeat of this establishment. The location is superb, on the Platinum coast, beautiful clear water and great for sunset viewing. The beach, although small, is sufficient. A bit of rocks to get into the water but then when you are in, you are in the paradise of aquariums. The rocks are no issue. There were some construction taking place next door, but what do you do, never build?this has since been completed. Rooms are comfortable and decorate to a high standard. Lovely large soft beds, big screen tv, mini bar fridge( stocked and included) safe in the room and a great AC to keep cool. The balcony provides a lovely space to view the sunset and sea. The staff must be some of the best in the Caribbean. Friendly, attentive, professional and always on hand to help. The manager, Richard Daniel, actually gets about and chats to his guests, how refreshing in a world where managers hide behind desks. The chef is brilliant, comes out and checks up on the guests. The food was superb, loved it. Breakfast was great, lunch was great and dinner excellent. Activities include watersport, a massive plus for anyone visiting Barbados. Go on and treat yourself.

Wow, best holiday, hotel, staff, food, drinks my wife and I have ever experinced. Well done to Jason the General Manager for the "Top Gun" team you have created. Special thank you and praise to the following superstars, in no particular order: Richelle on reception - Went out of her way, you are the best, thank you. Rhea - always smiling, made our day Agnes - hope your vaction is going well, what the hotel be without Agnes Pat - Thanks to your professional training I now make the pefect poached eggs & omlettes, I cant wait for my next lesson, Aug we will be back. Quincy - You made us feel like we had our own personal waiter, always making sure we had a drink, you certainly kept the Green Monkeys flowing. Andrew - the historian, always ready with the champagne and a story, loved it. Saul - met on day 1 and made us feel at home straight away, absolutley genuine guy, thank you for all your advice. Devere - the best bar tender do not know how we would of survived without your fantastic evening cocktails. Shiontelle - always the like and soul, hope your voice has improved after the carnival, a real credit to the hotel. Shakeria / Andrea / Kristyn - made us feel like one of the family. Rasta Man - this guy can create the most exciting dishes, always came out of the kitchen to ask us how the food was. I understand the concept of this small hotel, you feel like your part of it, own it in a way. 5 star review all the way, missing you all, see you very soon. Congratulations.
