Perfection

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Perhaps the best resort hotel in the world. Certainly the best place I’ve ever stayed on a vacation. Why? The setting is spectacular, the service is on point, and the food, golf and activities are all amazing. But, most of all it is the people. The staff and guests (most of whom return year after year) blend into a seamless community that creates a mutual culture of kindness and gratitude. We experienced so many examples of this in our time at Sandy Lane. One example is when we shared a shuttle from the golf course with some other guests. They asked if we were going on the catamaran cruise the next day. We had not booked it but did so based on their recommendation. (The concierge increased the capacity by two to accommodate us.). The day was a true highlight of our trip and we ended up playing a round of golf and sharing lunch with the guest who recommended it the following day. A second example is when I had a small medical issue our last night. The staff drove us to the 24 hour medical clinic and back and filled my prescription for me. The entire ordeal took only one hour and I was feeling fine by morning. On other trips, this type of curveball has diverted us for entire days or nights but the staff at Sandy Lane made it inconsequential. There were so many other moments that show why this place is different. When you pair them with the unparalleled location, Bajan culture and all the attention to detail and amenities, you really end up with something in a class of its own. This place is a Seven Star hotel. We will return.

Best in class and immaculate attention to detail

We had a truly wonderful stay at Sandy Lane, and I can easily say it’s not just one of the best resorts in the Caribbean—it’s world class. . The service, attention to detail, and warmth of the staff stood out from the moment we arrived. I’d love to name everyone who made our stay exceptional, but the list would be just too long — and I wouldn’t want to leave anyone out inadvertently. Every single member of the team was fantastic. A special thank you to the transfer and concierge team who went above and beyond when we cut our departure a little too close. Not only did they get us to the airport on time, but they also ensured our check-in process at the airport was smooth and stress-free. It’s moments like these that truly show the caliber of service Sandy Lane stood out from the rest in the island. Leo, the manager, was a constant and reassuring presence — always around and clearly proud of the incredible team and operation he leads. If you’re considering a stay at Sandy Lane, please don’t hesitate. It’s a place where every detail is cared for, and every guest is made to feel special. We can’t wait to return to the beautiful island and an amazing resort.

Exceptional in every way

Everything about the Sandy Lane is exceptional. From the huge, gorgeous rooms with lavish marble bathroom, to the exceedingly comfortable bed and large balcony overlooking the beautiful turquoise waters, to the fantastic beach and Beach Butler Service, to the pristine pool, everything is top notch and first class. The service is absolutely wonderful, and the little touches like the frozen lollipops by the pool and the spritzer as you Sun yourself just add to the overall experience. Also thoroughly enjoyed the chauffeured ride in the Rolls-Royce from the airport. The food was also very good and plentiful and the ambience of the place is truly relaxing and luxurious. Absolutely love this place and will be back.

Stay away from this dump

It was great until I got refused service for wearing shorts on a tropical island. Ever since then I’ve been realising just how awful this place is especially for its atrocious price. The service: horrible. The food: inedible. The views and ocean are the only reason to even step near this crime to accommodation. (Btw room cleaning staff are very rude)

6 Days in Heaven (Sandy Lane)

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We recently returned from a 6-night stay at Sandy Lane, our first venture to Barbados, and were thoroughly impressed with our time there. The resort itself has all the facilities you'd expect of a 5 star hotel, but is really set apart by its wonderful staff. The folks we interacted with were, without exception, great ambassadors of both the island and the resort. The spa and fitness facilities were on par with any such facilities we have encountered at other resorts and the food and beverage options were, although not inexpensive, well above par, even with an island full of above grade restaurants. I did my best to sample every gin on the island and my better half found the rum sours to be without comparison. Entertainment was available every evening and several times during the day, which really provided great opportunities for the guests to intermingle, including a crazy conga line late one evening in the Monkey Bar, a great stop for a last cocktail or two to top off the night. The rooms were large and well maintained, and close to the beach, so in the morning it was easy to roll out of bed and onto the beach, after an initial stop at the Baijan Blue to enjoy breakfast, which was spot on in quality and expansive in offerings. Service on the beach (as well as the one day we spent at the pool) was prompt and food and drinks were above expectations for even these more casual meals. We did not take advantage of any of the golf or tennis facilities, other than a stop at the country club for an afternoon glass of wine, but they looked pristine and should merit any visitor's attention. One opportunity which we'd heartily recommend was the Seaduced shared catamaran trip, not only did we enjoy swimming with the sea turtles, we loved the opportunity to spend the afternoon meeting new people and the 4 person crew were all both professional and friendly, and the food and drink were beyond what was expected based on prior boat trips in other venues. Shout outs to Tony, Josh, Destiny and Dante. Perhaps as curious to us as anything we encountered was the lack of American guests and the lengthy repeat stays from the guests that we spoke to, it not being unusual to find that people had made at least an annual trip to Sandy Lane for several decades. Think that the Irish and British have done a good job at keeping this jewel to themselves! Finally, its impossible to ignore that there is a monetary cost to such a great stay, but can say with some degree of confidence that every dollar was well spent and the final bill didn't subtract a bit from the great time that we had. Highly recommend a trip to Sandy Lane be added to your bucket list!
