I stayed for a couple of nights while in town for business. I didn't know much about it going in, but really enjoyed it... The restaurant was good (drinks and food). Staff were attentive and polite each time I dined there. Prices are either low if you're coming from a more expensive market or expensive if you're used to other midwest pricing, most likely. The cafe was good, too. Food was good enough, but espresso drinks were solid. The staff were very nice. I just wish it was open in the afternoon, too. The gym and pool was among the nicer hotel ones I've seen/used. And the second floor is an entire art gallery, including an old gymnasium (I wish they had more information present on the history of the building, like why a basketball court was there). Wifi was fast enough for working and stable. The room (just a standard King, I think) felt airy thanks to the tall ceilings, at least in my room. The shower stall was large, too. Bed was firm and comfortable. I had to laugh that the toilet seat was left up when I arrived - I guess they do that for men traveling alone ;) The location was convenient enough to get to Union Station and I walked around downtown a little one evening. It didn't feel unsafe, but man, downtown is quiet. Maybe it was the rain that evening, but it was so dead feeling in the area. I feel like the area has a lot of potential so hopefully it's headed in the right direction. I booked through Amex and used Platinum benefits which allowed for a late checkout and dining credit. In theory, I may have been able to get a free upgrade if available (don't believe I received one, which was fine).

I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights while I was in St Louis for a conference. My experience was extremely mixed but verging much more on the bad side. The good: - The rooms are big and spacious. The beds are super comfy and the general amenities in the rooms are relatively good. Great showers. - The pool and gym are fantastic, honestly among the best I've experienced at a hotel - The restaurant (Lone Wolf) serves very good food. A little on the expensive side, but food is good. Similarly the Press Cafe was good for breakfast (although food not fantastic - certainly adequate) The bad: - Location. It was my first time in St Louis and my overall impression of the downtown area was not good, but the location of the hotel is really bad. I chose it because it was close to union station which is where the conference was, but the immediate surroundings of the hotel are run-down and desolate (walking dead vibes). If you want to go and grab a can of soda its about a 25 minute walk. There really is NOTHING close by. Oh and heard gunshots outside at least twice while I was here. - The upkeep and cleanliness. While the rooms were big and spacious, the weren't very clean - dust everywhere, stained towels. In addition the window fittings were broken and the curtains were more or less impossible to open. In addition, the elevators were extremely bad - took forever to come and one elevator trapped people inside at least three times while I was there (but hotel staff did nothing about it, no sign or anything despite being told) - oh and the alarm on that elevator.... didn't work! - The staff. I hate to add this one, because I didn't interact a lot with the staff, but my impression from the interactions I had was that they couldn't really be that bothered. For instance, asking where I could go and buy a can of soda was met by a blank stare and they just handed me a map of downtown that showed the sites (all one of them)... After speaking to a guy who got stuck in the elevator he said he had called the front desk in alarm and they put him on hold to deal with the customer standing in front of them. - Food/Drink. Yes the restaurant was tasty, and the cafe was ok, BUT the cafe shut in the afternoon and the restaurant was fancy, so if you want anything like a simple drink or bag of chips forget it! The cafe also sold out of drinks by mid morning. A lot of hungry nights were spent. So, on average I would not recommend this hotel. It could be great, but feels a bit careless and forgotten

I had an amazing experience with Kevin, the valet at the 21c Museum Hotel in downtown St. Louis. From the moment I pulled up, Kevin was friendly, professional, and incredibly personable. He greeted me with a warm smile and made me feel genuinely welcomed. Not only was he efficient with the valet service, but he also impressed me with his knowledge of the area and the hotel. He took the time to share a few great local tips and made the whole experience feel elevated. Kevin truly went above and beyond—he’s a standout and a real asset to the 21c team. Thank you, Kevin!

The room could have been cleaner, I had an issue with dirty sheets that I didn't find until the morning. Staff at the counter comped us a meal as discount. Overall, though, the hotel was beautiful, staff was courteous and very helpful. I would stay with them again, if the opportunity arose. The Valet Service, Dello and the young man with him on the 13th when we checked in, was so awesome, very helpful, and got us hooked up with a service to take us to and from our event so we wouldn't have to drive. I can't speak highly enough of these young men!

Overall, I have mixed feeling about my stay at the 21C St. Louis. This is my second time staying at a 21C property and I love the concept. Part hotel/part museum, the experience is really unique. The art and decor were memorable. However, my first and last impressions of this hotel were negative. Pulling up to valet, the attendant didn't greet me, but was on his phone on an extended call and paid no attention to me. A terrible first impression. I then proceeded to the front desk and checked in. Their app advertising free parking; however, rates shown were not free and the front desk told me to take care of it with valet....it was not her responsibility. Again, a very poor first impression. On to the room. It was comfortable and high-end. Probably the highlight of my stay. I also got a restful night's stay and enjoyed a view of the St. Louis skyline. Still more negatives though. The immediate area didn't seem safe and was desolate. Felt uncomfortable walking over to Union Station in the late afternoon. Probably would not do this again as St. Louis is a very high crime city. Also, the valet assured me my rental car would be parked and secured in a garage; however, upon retrieving it, I saw him pull it out of the lot across the street. Not what was promised. Upon checkout, I attempted again at the front desk to get a credit for the parking and was denied. I subsequently contacted Accor customer service and eventually was credit the parking charge, but with a lot of hassle on my end. Poor training on the hotel's part as they needed to make things right, but didn't. Not sure I'd give 21C another chance at this hotel...too many things went wrong during my stay.
