Curtain Bluff is a home away from home. It's shabby chic in the best way. Where every other place in the world is seemingly competing on being the fanciest and most exclusive feeling, Curtain Bluff invests in what matters most: exceptional service, making you relaxed in a way no other place I've been to can. The exceptional tennis staff and facilities are a particular highlight. The hotel feels like a discreet private club where guests and staff are all thrilled to be. In that way, its different than most places and I hope it stays that way. A little extended family tucked away in Antigua that loud and showy people can't even find. Perfect.

Curtain Bluff feels like stepping into Kellerman’s Resort if it had a Caribbean cousin. It’s relaxed, familiar, and full of understated charm. Nothing flashy or trendy, but clearly a place that’s been lovingly cared for over decades. You’ll quickly see why so many guests return year after year—it’s more than a holiday spot, it’s a tradition. There’s a strong sense of community here, almost like a club. Guests casually ask, “Is this your first visit?” and by the end of your stay, you’ve worked out who’s part of the ‘establishment.’ It’s friendly, but definitely has a rhythm all its own. Food is solid—like eating at your favorite local restaurant. Plenty of choice, not too adventurous. If you’re after bold Caribbean spice, you might want to pack your own hot sauce! Drinks and cocktails are a highlight: beautifully crafted, never rushed. The beach is everything you’d hope for: warm water, soft sand, and top-notch water sports. Go diving, sailing, waterskiing—or just relax in the sun with a good book. Entertainment is nightly, usually during dinner. Acts change nightly—some excellent—but the soundtrack leans smooth and safe: lots of ballads, steel drums, and ballroom dancing. Don’t expect a party scene; most nights are lights-out by 11. A surprising bonus is the media detox. No TVs in rooms, no background music all day. If you want sound, bring headphones. If you want screen time, there’s a TV room. Otherwise, you’re encouraged to unplug—and it’s a refreshing change. Finally, it’s the staff who make this a truly enjoyable stay. It feels unfair to single out any one of them, they are all wonderful people. Carol, our driver and Island guide is just the happiest person. The crew running the beach bar are always good for a chat when you need to escape the sun. Would we return? Not just yet. We’re still chasing more adventurous trips. But we’d send our parents in a heartbeat—the relaxed pace, the charm, and the quiet rhythm suit that demographic perfectly. That said, there’s investment happening and upgrades on the way. Curtain Bluff won’t change drastically, but it may gently evolve—and in doing so, might start drawing in a new generation of traveler.

Having been recommended the hotel a few years ago and read so many good reviews on Curtain Bluff we had high expectations and we weren’t disappointed. The hotel is due for refurbishment and under new ownership so there is always anxiety that standards and the hotels ethos may have changed, it hadn’t and I really hope that continues to be the case. There are so many returning guests that now take children and grandchildren and there is a genuine warmth and welcome for all the hotel guests. The hotel is relaxed, never feels crowded and the service, cleanliness and attention to detail excellent. A big part of the hotels success is the wonderful staff, ably managed by Wendy and Rob who go out of their way to make sure guests are happy and have everything they need. We were absolutely bowled over by the fantastic water sports/beach team who were always smiling, willing and professionally looked after the safety and enjoyment of every guest, they were all really fabulous! What a treat to be able to water ski, sail, paddle board, snorkel as often as you want to! The food choices were great in both restaurants and lunch a lovely informal affair in the Seagrape on the beach. I know future plans are to move it further inshore and to glaze and air condition it which in my opinion would be a real shame. I think the beauty of Curtain Bluff is that it doesn’t follow the rather clinical stereotype of some other luxury hotels who lose their identity and could be a hotel anywhere in the world. Please don’t change too much it was perfect! If I was to change anything it would be to have a better selection of all inclusive wines, I think for the cost of staying at the hotel there should be a greater selection included and better wine glasses, small changes but it would make a huge difference. Thank you for a lovely stay, we will be back!

There was a really homey feel to this beautiful resort. There is a reason why there are so many repeat guests. The local staff are attentive and friendly and have also been there many years. The beach chairs and "umbrellas" are the best I have ever experienced.
