Reviews for Tamarind Hills Resort and Villas

An amazing place!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We had an amazing experience at Tamarind Hills! Discovered completely by accident online. Had planned an all inclusive vacation for 20th wedding anniversary at a different property and made a left turn at the last minute after looking at Tamarind website through Hilton. Diamond status really paid off with room upgrades and also English breakfast daily for 2 for the week. Location was amazing as sunset view was front and center nightly. Atmosphere was chill and very private and quiet. Staff was very friendly and accommodating with whatever we needed. We will definitely be back next year. This hotel has the set the bar high for us as far as vacation properties go. For the views, room and overall experience it was 100 percent for my wife and I.

Perfect trip, beautiful place, great people

We stumbled across Tamarind Hills online and it was a lucky find. We were looking for a mid-summer getaway - just 5 days and this was exactly what we needed. I wouldn’t describe the experience as lavish luxury but it was classy and private in a slightly understated way which was a perfect fit. The accommodations were high end with a large balcony overlooking a gorgeous white sand beach (no sargassum), comfortable beds, and a well trained staff who went above and beyond to deliver for us. Almost all pros, very few cons. In a nutshell: Pros -Stylish, well appointed, comfortable interiors with high end finishes in a peaceful and beautiful environment -Warm, friendly, delightful staff who deliver on expectations -Beach is hard to beat. A long, postcard perfect strip of white sand and clear blue water…and it felt like we had the entire stretch nearly to ourselves -No sargassum seaweed even in midsummer. The beach faces west and only certain rare currents bring seaweed to these parts. -A great value for the price point. Cons -Suites and villas are along the side of a steep cliff so if you have significant mobility issues or are unstable with hills or steps please verify ahead of time if this property would be doable -The French press coffee maker is nice and the coffee is refilled in the rooms but we didn’t care for their blend -Restaurant on site is not bad but we found the menu and food to be just OK and a bit uninteresting. For food experiences there are better choices off site but transportation can be very pricy. Tips -Use the free shuttle to have dinner at Fox House. -If you don’t feel like going out for dinner, Miracle’s is a great option for delivery. Use their online service - it’s a bit weird but it works. Communicate with them via WhatsApp and they’re at your door in minutes. Jerk chicken with rice and veggies and key lime pie with a bottle of wine and Netflix movie night was perfect! -Walk down the beach to Dennis’ for lunch -Jackie’s yellow drink shack right next door on the beach serves a delicious rum punch for $5 and she’s a character too -Check out the black infinity pool for an evening swim -Get the code to the locked walkway and down at that end of the property you’ll find a perfect little private cove for swimming and relaxing

A Caribbean Paradise on the stunning Ffryes Beach

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We stayed at Tamarind Hills late June to early July and had the most wonderful week. Travelling during the Caribbean’s quieter season proved to be a real advantage. The weather was glorious throughout, the sea was beautifully warm, and we had the beach almost to ourselves! It felt like heaven. The villas and suites are beautifully designed, combining understated luxury with spectacular views across the turquoise waters. From breakfast overlooking the ocean to breathtaking evening sunsets, every day felt effortlessly relaxing. What truly sets Tamarind Hills apart, however, is the people. Every member of the team made us feel genuinely welcome, and their warmth, professionalism and attention to detail created an atmosphere that is increasingly rare to find. Hospitality like this cannot be manufactured—it comes from a team that clearly takes pride in what they do. Particular shout-out to Ron, the resort's General Manager; he could not do enough for us, even organising a typical Caribbean BBQ with the best lobsters and more. If you’re looking for a peaceful Caribbean escape with exceptional accommodation, beautiful beaches and service that makes you feel completely at home, Tamarind Hills will tick all your boxes. We left feeling refreshed, relaxed and already planning our return.

Fell Short of Expectations

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Our group traveled to Antigua for an incentive trip with 50+ guests, and unfortunately, our experience at the resort fell far short of the luxury standard we expected. Throughout the stay, we encountered repeated service delays, unreliable internal transportation, inconsistent communication, and unresolved maintenance issues, including water pressure problems, leaks, musty rooms, and guest-area concerns that were reported multiple times without meaningful resolution. Restaurant delays, shuttle wait times, and operational breakdowns created ongoing frustration for guests and required constant follow-up. We also experienced issues with service professionalism, privacy around guest villas, and the resort’s ability to support a group of our size despite prior assurances. Several activities and resort-recommended options were not properly vetted or communicated, which negatively impacted the overall guest experience. While we gave the resort multiple opportunities to address concerns during our stay, many issues remained unresolved, leaving our team and guests disappointed. Antigua itself is beautiful, but based on our group’s experience, we cannot recommend this resort for large groups, incentive trips, or travelers expecting consistent luxury-level service. Future guests should carefully consider whether the resort has the staffing, communication, maintenance standards, and operational structure needed to deliver the experience they are promising.
