Great Stay in Rabat

We stayed here during our visit to Rabat. Donatien and Imale went above and beyond to make my birthday celebration extra special. The Moroccan restaurant at the hotel was excellent. The staff was very attentive and also helped celebrate.

Some very good staff, some not so, and sharpening up is needed

We have just returned from our first visit to this charming city. It is a lot less chaotic than Marrakech, Rabat has a sedate elegance. The people are lively, interested in visitors and helpful. Some of the sights and views are breathtaking, particularly the kasbah walls, beaches (waves are amazing, but a clean up is badly needed!) and city architecture. I've stayed in Farimonts here, there and everywhere. This has aspects of the chain at its best, and also of Morocco, but some very poor let downs. Firstly, some shout outs to some superb staff who went over and above to make our trip memorable and easy to navigate: MEHDI, working as concierge and doing a superb job. He went over and above for us, recommending restaurants, booking taxis and so much more. He was always friendly and totally committed and professional. Seriously, Fairmont invest in this man's training. Mehdi is a huge asset and you should be utilising his charm, professionalism and dedication. JAAFAR was so helpful via email on the run up to our arrival too on many issues: hugely supportive and helpful and his advice was spot on! The rest of the staff were OK, but quite a few were less welcoming and / or professional. The staff at LE DECK were terrible - always crowded around chatting to each other. We had to go to the bar, and when we did, after waiting at our table, were told curtly "its table service". Just not good enough. Service was slow and not welcoming in any way. They also ran out of Campari, which in a 5 star hotel where everyone drinks a negroni as much as they order a beer, sort your stock room out. DAHLIA: having run out of campari upstairs, the Moroccan restaurant at the hotel ran out of couscous. So, we asked to transfer our reservation to the Greek restaurant upstairs where we received such a warm welcome and had a wonderful evening. Great team and a lot of fun in the way they all work together up there with customers. We opted for the Gold package and we are glad we did. Great terrace, with beautiful views and out two waiters were always hospitable and keen to look after us. Nice wines, beers, canapés, treats. Upgrade to this package, it's worth it. Breakfast was very good, with excellent omelettes and pancakes (Moroccan pancakes are always a highlight for me!) but the coffee was dreadful, One lady made a decent cappuccino (it needed 3 shots) but the other staff strangely refused and just made weak coffee after weak coffee despite me taking the cup up and politely asking for another shot. Cue: eye rolls and sighs. Check your bill carefully. We had prepaid our rooms as we went with British Airways holidays. Our bill had the room charges on and we had to query this and spend some time awaiting confirmation whilst our airport taxi was waiting. So, a mixed stay. Some excellent staff made us feel welcome. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. But, a lot of work needs to be done especially at Le Deck rooftop bar which has a raft of poor comments here and on other sites and a few other let downs. Also, no wifi outside. I mean NONE! None around the pool or on any roof bars. We had to keep running in and out when trying to check reservations etc or just read messages. Sort this out, as this is just basic wifi!

Clean, new, fabulous!

Beautiful new hotel overlooking the river and walled city. The infinity pool on the roof was magnificent. Rooms were fresh and clean and the breakfast buffet was delicious.

I was impressed

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

This is a new and modern hotel with nice rooms. Ours had a very large deck (bigger than our room) and an extremely large bathroom. Basic room was small though. Service is pretty good, there is a roof top pool (not heated) and a very nice roof top bar. Food at restaurant was good but not amazing. We enjoyed our time here.
