We stayed at the Goldgasse for 3 nights and we could not have made a better choice. It turned out to be the weekend of the St Rupert celebration which was in the main square. The Goldgasse is just off the main square so very convenient but also just outside the noise range. Salzburg was a great city for walking around; to the river, the castle and numerous other sites. The hotel itself was very comfortable (our room had AC which was a welcome luxury) and the space was very large and comfortable. The bath was huge and also well outfitted. We were greeted by the charming Ulrike who welcomed us like long lost family members. She was the heart of the hotel, always smiling, ready to help in any way and made great recommendations for things to do and places to go. We will certainly stay at the Goldgasse if our future travels again include Salzburg. We only scratched the surface of the area.

This was five stars from the second I walked in. Nearly 700 years old and every bit as cool. We felt like family and our hostess was one of the nicest women, truly charming. If you're in need of a romantic lodge in the heart of Salzburg, I can't imagine better

The perfect little hotel was our selection of Hotel Goldgasse for a long weekend with friends on our first visit to Salzburg. From the warm reception with the hotel towels and the champagne, our hotel host Ulrike made a difference. She provided us with directions and the utmost service our entire stay. The location was so convenient for dropping off our shopping parcels or resting in between excursions. The hotel room was cozy and opened to a pedestrian street view. The room amenities with the retro mini refrigerator were cool, and I loved the personal care products. We were fortunate to have one fantastic dinner at the hotel. That set the bar high for the wine choices and entrees. We also enjoyed a fabulous breakfast there thanks to our hosts. Tip: the room lights and en-suite bathroom lights are controlled by a master light switch. The in room air conditioner works if your windows are closed.

Very well located hotel in the old town with a decent restaurant too. The suite was very comfortable to return to after a day out touring the many possibilities in beautiful Salzburg. We didn’t come across any lounges or public rooms - it is a ground floor restaurant with bedrooms on the floors above - but, in a city as lovely as Salzburg, most people want to be out and about! A superb welcome upon arrival from a gregarious host who offered us a glass of fizz and sat us down to explain what was on offer in Salzburg - every hotel should have someone who does this…very few do…and I’m not sure I can ever recall anyone doing it as well as the lady here!

We visited this hotel in Aug 2025. It’s a wonderful hotel. The hostess, Ulrika was wonderful host. She made us feel very welcome. Offered drinks and made us at ease during the check in process. She escorted us to our rooms (which were upgraded). Minibar was free with some soft drinks and water. She also recommended places to visit and eat. The breakfast was fantastic. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
