Booked the terrace as a treat for our last afternoon in Saltzburg. We went there in person to make the reservation so we knew what time we had booked. When we arrived we were told they had given our table away and that we were too late. We were 15 minutes early! The woman was extremely rude, showed us the booking for an hour earlier than we had actually booked. I didn’t believe her, no apology, no concern whatsoever and more or less asked us to leave, embarrassing! So I believe that they gave our table to someone else and moved our booking to suit the excuse. She asked if we were English, I think that explains what happened here. It was a busy sunny afternoon so we couldn’t get a table anywhere else. Thoroughly disappointed and ruined our last day. I’d avoid it completely. Horrible way to treat people visiting their country.

The stein was an amazing hotel. Super helpful and friendly staff and the location was perfect for exploring salzburg. The roof terrace bar was a little oasis withe fantastic views and very knowledgeable staff.i felt like nothing was to much trouble. I highly recommend this hotel if like me it's your first trip to salzburg.

This is a review of the Stein Terrace Restaurant, not the hotel. We reserved a table 2 weeks in advance for our family of 6, and then reconfirmed the day of our lunch to add two more guests to our party. When we arrived, the staff could not find our booking and were very unaccommodating. They begrudgingly gave us a bar table with tall chairs, which were very uncomfortable although the restaurant inside was half empty. The food was mediocre, the pasta was tepid and the two guests who ate the "Perlhuhn", guinea fowl with champignons got terrible upset stomachs for the rest of the day. It was very expensive and the whole experience was disappointing. My husband and I have stayed at the hotel before and been very happy with our previous experience but this lunch was a huge mistake.

We stayed in this hotel for four days in July. While Salzburg is small, it is not hard to say that a hotel is centrally located, so I should say that it is perfectly located with daytime tours on the other side of the bridge and lots activities on its size of the river. The roof top breakfast is certainly a great location for anyone wanting to look at the Salzburg Castle every morning. The staff at the reception as well as the door were all friendly, cheerful and friendly. For the great location, we had a small but adequate room facing the river. To make it short, we will stay at this hotel again when we return in the future.

Lovely central hotel, staff were helpful and friendly. We loved the rooftop bar and the staff there were very friendly. Rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean. Only negatives were that I had asked when booking two rooms if we could be close to each other and we were on different floors. Also there were no tea making facilities in the room which I felt was a bit mean, it’s been years since I have stayed in a hotel room without a kettle! All in all a great hotel, near the sights and plenty of great restaurants nearby but bring a travel kettle if you like a cuppa first thing!
