My daughter and I arrived at Hotel Stein after a very long travel day and were very grateful to Ahmed at the front desk who took us under his wing and arranged dinner at the hotel's rooftop bar & restaurant at the best table. What a beautiful introduction to our glorious stay in Salzburg! The hotel is in a perfect location, everything is in walking distance. The room was immaculate and the bed very cozy and comfortable. If I am lucky enough to return to Salzburg I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you Ahmed!

DO NOT GO to the ROOF TERRACE! My wife and I, both mid 50's and seasoned world travellers ventured there last Sunday, given it was a lovely afternoon. We presented ourselves at the rooftop reception area where there were a couple of people in the queue before us (no problem), we were shown to a table and asked to wait until a table became available on the terrace (no problem) but noticed we had become invisible! The 'Meeter and Greeter' then proceeded to offer drinks to, and served a couple of parties who arrived after ourselves. After asking the above why we were being overlooked, he grudgingly supplied a Drinks Menu and muttered 'everyone is first'. No one came to take our order and the and the final straw came when the aforementioned latecomers were directed to tables on the Terrace. After complaining, we were basically told 'too bad'. We left and informed the reception staff on the ground floor of our experience. The staff on duty apologised on behalf of the establishment (appreciated) but then amazingly one staff member imparted ('it was a common complaint'!!!!!!) This is not the first time we have received bad service there and walked out after being ignored. The worst staff we have ever encountered work on that Roof Terrace. Moral of the story; If they s**t on you once, shame on them, If they s**t on you twice, shame on us. NIE WIEDER

Very nice place to stay. We had a river view room - the room was spacious and very quiet. The staff are friendly and helpful, and when my wife put her back out, they arranged a great massage on Boxing Day! We really liked the place - cosmopolitan, friendly, clean and well maintained, spacious, with great food (and the included breakfast was seriously very good).

We stayed 2 nights - the 1st & 2nd of December 2024. I CAN NOT recommend this hotel highly enough. From the moment the Porter met us at our taxi on arrival, to the moment we checked out, we were looked after impeccably. The staff are incredibly accommodating, hotel facilities are bang on and our room was modern, clean and spacious - I believe we were possibly upgraded as I booked a 'small double room' on booking.com. The hotel is so well positioned in the city, possibly one of the best, right along the river, so very close to the Old Town, Christmas Markets & Mozart attractions. The rooftop bar, was great for breakfast and also a late night drink upon return from our adventures in the city. I also need to mention, that value for money, this hotel won hands down. It was a great price point for us, and went well above the sta daed we were expecting. My husband and I could find no fault with this hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we highly recommend it, and if one day we ever find ourselves back in Salzburg, Hotel Stein will be our first call.

Spacious room, amazing views of the river & castles, great rooftop bar with even grander views & the best shower in Europe! It was actually had a proper door! Excellent location - walk to everything. Wonderful staff. Fab mid-mod design. Wish it wasn't over 5k miles away so I could visit more often.
