Good hotel in a good location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The hotel is in a good location for the old and new town. We got a taxi from and to the airport at a cost of around €20 each way. There are cheaper ways no doubt but we went for convenience. Check in was good and reception staff friendly and helpful. We had a junior suite and it was very comfortable, with a walk in shower, shampoo, shower gel and a fridge. The tv didn’t have much in the way of English channels but we weren’t there to sit in the room too much. Breakfast wasn’t included but we did pay to have breakfast at the hotel. We found the breakfast very good with a good choice of cold food. There was no hot buffet but you can order hot food like eggs at no extra cost. The view from the rooftop bar/restaurant was worth seeing. We did a half day excursion to Hallstatt with Panama and it was well worth it, especially going up to the sky walk view. Great choice of restaurants, although I was surprised that so many wanted you to pay by cash, so worth taking a bit extra. Overall I would recommend this hotel and would be happy to stay again.

Great hotel for business stays in Salzburg

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

A great hotel dor a business stay. Hotel Stein is located in the center of Salzburg, the city center is within easy walking distance. Rooms are well-sized, with AC, great beds and a modern bathroom. Request to get a room facing the back of the hotel, as the street in front is very noisy even with the windows closed. The breakfast buffett is in the restaurant at the top of the hotel, is small but has a nice selections of food and drinks. The view from the rooftop (especially in summer, when you can have a drink outside) is brilliant. Overall, I think Hotel Stein is one of the best places to stay in Salzburg

Perfect for the Christmas markets!

The negative reviews seem to be from over 6 years ago. The breakfast here was by far the best breakfast we had our entire three week stay in Europe. It is across the river from the Altstadt (5 min) and in the center of absolutely everything. Staff was friendly and the rooftop bar and restaurant? Sunrise each morning for breakfast and then a few sunsets - appetizers were terrific and the wine selection was great. Staff was attentive. Room was fine and bed was comfortable. We walked the stairs many times and the remodel with all the glass was beautiful. We have it on a definite stay list should we be back in Salzburg.

Perfect Location!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

Highly recommend Hotel Stein! Location couldn’t be more perfect! Impressed with size of room, amount of space in bathroom, comfort of the bed. Only complaint is that our room was hot and we couldn’t get the temperature down. Only option was to open windows, and at night that was quite noisy. Otherwise a perfect stay! Staff super friendly, too.

Great Hotel - Perfect Location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

One day left in our stay, but I feel compelled to review now just in case I forget. This is the only non-National chain brand hotel I booked for our 2 weeks in Europe and I could not be happier with my choice! The hotel is perfect for the two of us. The location is absolutely perfect! We took several tours - which all started just a few minutes walk from the hotel. I worried not being in old town would be a negative - but it was a great decision. It’s a very quick walk to old town, but lots of things close rather early but across the river by the hotel there is still lots to do. I recommend spending a few extra dollars and including the breakfast when you make your reservation. It’s good (includes champagne if you fancy a mimosa) and great coffees. We bought breakfast after we arrived and would have saved money if we just did it ahead of time. The rooms are nice and very clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. Had a great time at the rooftop bar last night - sit at the bar because the bartenders are delightful and will tell you all about their favorite places in the city. Ignore any negative reviews - this place is great and I would definitely stay here again (and I’m a bit picky when it comes to hotels).
