This adults-only boutique hotel is a true gem! Located just across the river with outstanding views of Old Salzburg, an ideal location for touring around the city. The hotel is immaculate, rooms and public areas both, and we were greeting by staff each and every time we passed through. Of particular note to mention was front desk clerk, Christophe who was immensely helpful with directions, with recommendations and with getting our train tickets to Vienna organized. He always had time for us and was not only exceedingly professional, but very very kind and friendly. Our only criticism would be about the rooftop restaurant. While the hotel advertises that the restaurant is a part of them, somebody neglected to tell the staff who, when we tried to get a table and mentioned we were guests of the hotel promptly told us, 'we're not part of the hotel". This was a bit startling and quite frankly, the delivery was rude. That being said, we would still highly recommend this wonderful hotel for your next Salzburg stay.

Stayed at hotel stein as a couple visiting with friends. Friendly staff, lovely roof top bar for an evening drink & good breakfast selection. Only downside was the suite we had was under the restaurant & roof top bar area and the foot steps above were quite loud. Wouldn’t recommend a junior suite if you’re a light sleeper. Didnt affect us too much and would stay again.

Booked the terrace as a treat for our last afternoon in Saltzburg. We went there in person to make the reservation so we knew what time we had booked. When we arrived we were told they had given our table away and that we were too late. We were 15 minutes early! The woman was extremely rude, showed us the booking for an hour earlier than we had actually booked. I didn’t believe her, no apology, no concern whatsoever and more or less asked us to leave, embarrassing! So I believe that they gave our table to someone else and moved our booking to suit the excuse. She asked if we were English, I think that explains what happened here. It was a busy sunny afternoon so we couldn’t get a table anywhere else. Thoroughly disappointed and ruined our last day. I’d avoid it completely. Horrible way to treat people visiting their country.

The stein was an amazing hotel. Super helpful and friendly staff and the location was perfect for exploring salzburg. The roof terrace bar was a little oasis withe fantastic views and very knowledgeable staff.i felt like nothing was to much trouble. I highly recommend this hotel if like me it's your first trip to salzburg.

This is a review of the Stein Terrace Restaurant, not the hotel. We reserved a table 2 weeks in advance for our family of 6, and then reconfirmed the day of our lunch to add two more guests to our party. When we arrived, the staff could not find our booking and were very unaccommodating. They begrudgingly gave us a bar table with tall chairs, which were very uncomfortable although the restaurant inside was half empty. The food was mediocre, the pasta was tepid and the two guests who ate the "Perlhuhn", guinea fowl with champignons got terrible upset stomachs for the rest of the day. It was very expensive and the whole experience was disappointing. My husband and I have stayed at the hotel before and been very happy with our previous experience but this lunch was a huge mistake.
