Francisco at Ambler for the win!
The Ampler restaurant was great Francisco was great! His service was above and beyond the hotel was nice clean. The suites are very nice.

Did not live up to reputation
Valet experience needs work. We waited 30 minutes to get our car in one night and the same amount of time when checking out. Valets need to be more helpful as well - only one offered to help with bags, the others were more concerned we get their Cashapp for a tip. Room was NOT clean. There was a rather bad smell to the whole room during our stay and I believe it came from the side curtains. All the curtains were stained as were the sheets. This is unacceptable. Room service was unavailable to us first night of our stay despite being within its operating hours. There's no convenience store or vending machine in the hotel either? Front desk staff were friendly and helpful and appreciated. We travel to San Antonio frequently and overall, we have had much higher standard stays within Westin and IHG hotels than we did within the Hotel Contessa. For the price and reputation, this was disappointing and not what we expected. Outlets in room posed fire hazards. Loose, electric plugs bent, exposing prongs.

Awesome experience
This was my second time staying at this particular hotel and it seems to get better every time. Staff members were super friendly and courteous. I had the please of having breakfast at the AMBLER, Adan was truly top notch. Extremely soft spoken but took care of our needs. It was a pleasure running into Fast Eddie during this stay as well; he’s extremely proficient and an asset to this team. Both of those gentlemen should be rewarded for going the extra mind to make our stay the most enjoyable experience.

Ask for Francisco in the restaurant. He treats you better than family!! What a super breakfast by the river. The Homemade Biscuits are to die for!!

One of the best stays…
The Contessa has now become one of my favorite places to stay. The rooms were immaculate, and the service in every area was great. I love the fact that it is on the riverfront and the food is superb. I had breakfast by the riverfront and the coffee was amazing. I love the service I received from Francisco, when you go to the hotel, please ask for him he is one of the best servers. I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel was quiet and very peaceful. I would definitely visit here again.!
