The resort and hotel were beautiful. However, the bed was extremely uncomfortable. The pool area is nice but was understaffed. We expected a level of comfortability and service based on the cost but was disappointed. Could have spent less money somewhere else, not as upscale, and had the same experience.

All in all, very good value. In South Florida or Southern California, this exact resort would probably cost more than double what's they're charging in San Antonio and it wouldn't be considered outrageous. The rooms are nice and well maintained. Resort property is huge and very nice. Many of the sidewalks around the main resort building tend to end, rather than connecting to the other parts of the resort, which feels a smidge like a deliberate decision to keep too many hotel guests from wandering around the golf course and villa areas. Shops at La Cantera are a very walkable 1.5 miles (if you can take the heat), but you have to navigate some sidewalk-less resort roads to get to the main road. Pools are great and were busy but never overly crowded during our early August visit, even with temps in the upper 90s. They advertise having five pools, which is a bit of a fib. They have three pools. A kiddie pool, an adults-only pool, and the main resort pool. They claim five because there are two small (four-person, if you know the other three people well enough to get cosy) hot tubs. One of the hot tubs is also adults-only. Pools are open from 6 am to midnight, which was a pleasant surprise - the spotty info on La Cantera's website indicated much shorter hours. Self parking was plentiful and easy. I downloaded the app when we first arrived (signs with instructions are all over the lot), paid for self parking for our six day stay, and never had to think about it again for the rest of our stay. I think it came to $120. Once you pay, you can come and go through the security gate as often as you like - cameras scan your license plate like at EZ-Pass toll booths. On site restaurants were great. We didn't try Signature, the Michelin star restaurant, but we did the Primero Cantina (Tex Mex) twice. Standouts were the tropical fish ceviche and (surprisingly, since I'm a usually a carne kinda guy) the phenomenal Calabacitas tacos. I'd go back again just for those veggie tacos.

My stay at La Cantera Resort was a terrible experience. I booked a bunk bed room, and within hours of sleeping on it, I developed severe rashes that required a hospital visit. This was not only painful but also completely unacceptable for a resort of this level. Clearly, there are serious cleanliness or maintenance issues that need urgent attention. I expected comfort and safety, but instead, I left with medical bills and stress. I would strongly caution anyone considering staying here.”

I visited your resort at the end of June and stayed in a room with a bunk bed. The following morning, my guest woke up with a rash and distinct zigzag-shaped bumps, which appeared to be insect bites. I informed the front desk when checking out and was told to follow up with Thomas Garcia, which I did prior to the July 4th weekend. I sent Mr. Garcia both photographs and a doctor’s note by email, yet the call was cut off and I never heard back from him. When I called again immediately afterward, I was assured he would return my call, but that never happened. By mid-July, after no progress, I contacted the resort once more and spoke to Brian. He apologized and promised that Thomas would get in touch with me. Now, well into August, I still have not received any communication or update. The lack of follow-through on such a serious health concern is deeply disappointing and unprofessional. I should not have to repeatedly pursue your staff to get an answer. This is not the level of service expected from a resort of your caliber, and it raises serious concerns about your management’s commitment to guest safety and customer care.

The hotel is always beautiful and the staff very welcoming. I love how there is a adults only pool away from the kids. The firepits at night are very cozy and always plenty of seating around the grounds. i think thats why we like to stay during the week.
