We just returned from a 3 day mother-daughter trip celebrating my daughters 27th birthday. It was our first time at the Mokara and I can honestly say that it exceeded ALL of our expectations. Everyone at the hotel was friendly, helpful, and made us feel special -- from the concierge who gave great advice, to the poolside server who kept our water pitcher cold and filled, to the spa technicians who did an amazing job pampering us, to the valet who joked around with us as we waited for our car, to the bellmen who continually made sure we had everything we needed....you get the picture. We ended up spending a full day in the spa - taking advantage of not only the spa services (facial, body scrub, and massage) but also the relaxation room, jacuzzi, and wet sauna. The setting, smells, and mimosas served at the spa made just being there special. We also love the rooftop pool and lounging on the comfortable pool chairs added to our sense of being pampered (and the ceviche served there was delicious). In terms of the facilities, the location is perfect for access to so many things, the hotel is gorgeous, and the room was comfortable and spacious. I am leaving out so many other wonderful things I could say about this hotel and its staff but this review would be too long if I tried. Cannot recommend this hotel enough!

Excellent hotel. Check in with Nichole was seem less and she was super professional and friendly throughout our stay. She even arranged a special champagne bottle for our anniversary celebration. Rooms are very nice. Only one elevator in service though. Rooftop pool is great. Get a chair with an umbrella as the Texas sun is hot. Alejandra the pool waitress was super nice and fast. Overall, a superb experience.

If you want great service. Do yourself a favor and book this hotel. I've traveled quite a bit in my life. This hotel is in my top 3 of best service I've ever received. Staff was glad to help. Even in the hotel restaurant the food was actually good. The pool is nice the room was nice. Overall I would gladly go stay again. It's location is perfect when staying on the riverwalk. My only grip would be the upgrade I received. I booked this hotel as part of the FHR program. I booked the basic room and was upgraded to a city view room. Really not an upgrade because the view was obstructed. But not a huge deal just something to consider.

I just came back from six nights at the Mokara Hotel and Spa on the San Antonio Riverwalk. I splurged on a river view room with a balcony and it was definitely worth it. The room was lovely and very comfortable. The public spaces in the hotel were also lovely. The food at Ostra (the main restaurant) was fantastic. Big shout out to the kitchen staff. Everything I had was delicious, but the seafood was the real star. Some particular favorites were the ceviche (nice and spicy!), the smoked salmon on latkes, halibut, shrimp diablo and the redfish. The shrimp tortilla soup was also excellent. And let’s not forget the bar staff! The drinks were great. My particular favorite was the La Vida with spicy tequila. Yes, I like it spicy! :-) I also enjoyed the rooftop pool and the spa. When the weather was bad, I spent some time in the whirlpool inside the spa and it was lovely. The spa has a nice tranquil atmosphere, and staff were friendly and helpful. It’s the staff that makes this place so special. They went above and beyond for me in a way I didn’t think possible in this day and age, and I am so grateful to them. I came to San Antonio to meet someone for the first time (they were attending a conference at another hotel). We had several meals at Mokara and, when things didn’t work out, the staff was so sweet to me. I got lots of hugs (after they asked me if it was OK to hug me) and kind words, which I really appreciated. They also wrote me a lovely card with supportive messages and a second card the day I left, again with supportive messages. I was astonished and admit I was so touched that I cried. So, here are SOME of the very thoughtful and caring people at the Mokara Hotel and Spa: Jordan, Cherish, Lucie, Alyssa, April, Aide, Vanessa, Destiny, Emily Barbie, Nick, Alex, and Yaya in the restaurant Letty, Fajah, and the young man at the spa concierge desk Nichole at the front desk The housekeepers and bellmen To the hotel management: these people are keepers and I hope you give them all a raise! :-) To everyone else reading this review, I highly recommend the Mokara Hotel and Spa. If they can make my stay wonderful under the circumstances, they can certainly take great care of you, too!

After spending a wonderful week riding horses on a guest ranch in Bandera, Texas, my spouse and I made our first visit to San Antonio staying at the Mokara Hotel. We booked a room with a private balcony overlooking the River Walk and glad we did. The hotel has a private, secure entrance onto the River Walk and the location is a short walk to plenty of restaurants, attractions and, for morning stops, coffee shops and a bakery. The Alamo is also a short walk from the hotel. We had a room near the elevator, which can often be a noisy location, but we never heard a sound outside our comfortable room. We especially want to compliment Ezli, the valet who parked our car. He was the first staff person we met upon arrival at the hotel and was very helpful and accommodating throughout our stay, as we found the entire hotel staff to be.
