Thompson San Antonio Riverwalk

Dead cockroach in the stairwell, hair in the tub, lack of maintenance in the rooms. Housekeeping yelling into her phone. Genuinely the worst 'luxury' hotel experience. Fire alarms went off during the stay. The TV, phone, and refrigerator did not work. Major disappointment.

We appreciated being upgraded to a suite—it was a wonderful surprise (and an American Express Platinum perk) that made our stay more comfortable. However, the vegan food options were very limited. Items on the Moon’s Daughter menu (which we reviewed prior to and as part of our decision to stay here) marked as having a “vegan option” turns out still included non-vegan ingredients like milk, eggs or honey. In other cases, the “vegan option” simply meant removing non-vegan components, without substituting anything, leaving the meal incomplete while still priced the same. Even simple requests for fresh fruit that was supposed to be on our floor were confusing, as different staff gave different answers and ultimately there wasn’t any available. We also received an incorrect minibar charge post-checkout on an invoice emailed to us later that evening, which the hotel corrected once we called. However, it was an inconvenience and not the way we hoped to wrap up our getaway. Overall, we enjoyed the room, the eucalyptus steam room available at the spa and the staff were friendly, but clearer vegan options and better internal communication would really improve the guest experience.

Overall a positive experience; suite was a good size; great outdoor public spaces; not as close to the main section of Riverwalk (still walkable)

The atmosphere of The Thompson was wonderful. We were there for a little getaway and had a delightful time! The Moon's Daughters Bar on the 20th floor had an amazing view and the bartenders were fantastic.

We had a great experience staying at the Thompson Hotel in San Antonio. Upon arrival, we learned that our room had been upgraded to a suite, which is twice the price I had booked for the original room. Everyone, from the concierge and restaurant staff, was sweet and attentive. Rooms are clean and have fresh linen. The hotel is spotless and neat. My only disappointment is that the chef at The Moon's Daughter could add some flavor to their menu.
