Tabacon Thermal Resort & Spa

Excellent ! Great location with a great staff. Would be back in five months for another adventure stay. The rain forest will give you a great nights sleep. A special thanks to Maria of guest services, Hugo,Jafet, Brian of the restaurant, and Manuel, and Alfredo of Shangrilla.

Beautiful tropical paradise! The staff was helpful, friendly and truly cared that our stay was enjoyable. The wait time for our room to be ready took awhile and they didn't notify us when it was ready. The lounge and waiting area were gorgeous to explore as we waited.

Lovely place with beautiful surrounding. We loved the thermal wster pools. Waking up to many lovely bird sounds made it extra special. Staff were very helpful. Would have been great if the resort had some activities like nature walk or bird watching.

Tabacón is a beautiful property in a central location. We stayed for 5 nights for my wife’s 50th birthday. Our trip was focused on waterskiing with Volcano Watersports in El Castillo, about 20 minutes away. There are so many other activities. We went to the Butterfly Conservancy in El Castillo, the Arenal Observatory, the 1968 park and Mirador El Silencio. Each of those was fantastic. We also took a sloth tour and a private night walk. We saw 10 sloths, but overall, the night walk was much better. Tabacón’s service, design and landscaping are excellent. The staff is really great. We also enjoyed the food. My only complaint is that the walls between the rooms are thin. There’s a good chance that your neighbor will wake you and vice versa. Overall, the property is tightly packed. There is not much privacy, aside from beautiful landscaping. It’s also worth noting that the hot springs are not at the hotel. They’re a short walk or shuttle downhill. The hotel shuttle runs continuously, but we had one wait for a shuttle back uphill that felt too long. We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed Tabacón. We’d like to go back to Arenal, but we’d probably stay someplace with more privacy.

Incredible resort - tranquil and lush, attentive service, spacious and luxurious honeymoon suite rooms. The thermal baths and spa are incredible, the food is quite good, the more adventurous cocktails went great. They sound better than they are. Overall a wonderful experience but I didn’t think it was expensive for what it was.
