We stayed with our family of 12 at the Llao Llao resort for 4 nights, starting on New Year's Eve. Like many other reviews, the location and visual beauty of this resort from the exterior is 5-star, but once you are inside, it unfortunately falls short on a number of fronts. We stayed in the main building in a Suite. The room was not renovated and felt like it was frozen in time for at least 20 years. The furniture was badly scratched, and the shower in the bathroom was old and small. There was no air conditioning in our room, so it was very uncomfortable, considering we were staying there in the summer. We were charged over $1K per night for rooms that were much lower quality than a typical Marriott hotel room near an airport. The food was average to poor. We were charged over $300 US per person for a special NYE dinner. The food was terrible, the service middling and it was a big let down to kick off our stay. A few members of our family got stuck in an old glass elevator and the staff could not extricate us before we figured out what to do. Because the resort is far away from Bariloche, be prepared to spend big bucks ($300 US for 4 hours) to rent larger vans to transport you to and from the property (for larger groups). The pool was fantastic. The grounds were beautiful. The breakfast buffet was sufficient, but not special. If you still want to stay here, see if you can get a room in the new Moreno buildings. Those rooms were $1,7K per night, but at least newer and closer to a 5-star experience.

Breathtaking surroundings and clearly an institution that has lost its luster with poor management and really bad hospitality. Consistently horrible service that leaves you wondering how it remains a noted destination. Often it came across as negligent (ie trying to get a first aid kit by the marina turned into its own mission impossible). Rooms are really mediocre and not well maintained and the food is pretty bad. It’s a shame. We went over high season and perhaps that was the issue—that the resort just can’t accommodate or keep up with the volume they accept. What makes it all a little more off putting is how religiously you’re asked to tip. It took us asking 5 people for a cup of coffee and the 5th person reminded that “tips are not included.” ALL for gratuity, but the lack of basic help/service makes it a let down.

Location, location, location! The most beautiful spot and views! Hotel is almost too big. My room was very nice in the Moreno wing with a beautiful bathroom and spectacular views. Only issue it was so far from the main lobby. Like over 400 steps away. Worth the hike tho. Biggest negative was the service and food. The concierge was terrible in advance in replying to emails and quite unhelpful. I was often directed to a tour company they use which was good for activities. There is a huge language barrier and delay in communication. As well the food at the beautiful Wintergarden restaurant was awful. It’s a place you want to sit and eat but the menu, service and quality of food was not good.

I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding the tea time buffet at the Llao Llao Hotel in Bariloche on November 19th, 2025. Despite the hotel’s reputation and the high cost per person, the food quality was unexpectedly poor and far below what one would reasonably expect from a luxury property. Additionally, the service was extremely unsatisfactory. Our assigned waiter, Juan Carlos, largely ignored our table throughout the experience. He did not offer proper service and responded to our few requests for drinks without speaking, making the interaction uncomfortable and unprofessional. Due to the ongoing issues, I approached the supervisor, Fernando Molina, and subsequently the Manager, Lucía Galvan, after requesting to speak with management. Unfortunately, the only response I received was a brief “we are sorry,” with no attempt to address the situation further or offer a solution. This lack of accountability was very disappointing. Overall, the buffet was not worth the price and the service was unacceptable. Based on this experience, I do not recommend the tea time buffet at Llao Llao Hotel. It fell far short of the standards one would expect from a hotel of this level.

The most charming luxury hotel in South America! Every view from the lodge is picture postcard perfect. The food is Cordon Bleu, and the service beyond reproach. The town of Bariloche is a jewel to be enjoyed over and over again. If you are an artist, outdoors person, or fisherman you could not find a more perfect location. Aside from the azure lakes and towering mountains of Patagonia the most surprising export of the region is...CHOCOLATE! My wife and I have visited every country in South America - Argentina and Llao Llao Hotel & Resort Golf Spa are tops on our list.
