Reviews for Andaz San Diego

Great all around

I was here for two nights and everything was great. Super friendly staff, room was precisely what I expected when I booked, and location was super convenient. Really not much more to say except definitely a good choice!

Not worth the money

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

We stayed for two nights at the Andaz... it was not worth it. The hotel really needs updating and refreshing. For the amount we paid, the room (King Bed Deluxe) had holes in the black out curtains, the furniture was showing much wear and tear, the room has a musty smell. Lobby and pool furniture had stains on them. In the hotel (not counting STK downstairs), there was essentially only one food option (Rooftop Bar) and the menu was uninspiring. I was expecting more given that this is an Andaz, but it felt like a 3.5 star hotel. Valet parking is $70 a night, perhaps worth it because the surrounding area didn't feel too nice. If you're staying in the Gaslamp district for nighttime activities and want to stay at a somewhat trendy hotel, maybe this hotel can work for you. Otherwise, there may be better options elsewhere at this price point.

Worst nightmare

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I booked the star suites that has 2 king bunk beds and another bedroom with 1 king. It has 2 bathrooms, a living room and a bar area. From the pictures, I have to admit it looked awesome for my family: 2 girls, my 85 year old parents and my little puppy. We arrive around 4pm and checked in right away. My older daughter was so excited to go onto the top bunk and that's when everything went down hill. There was a huge yellow stain on the bedsheets that my daughter said it was so gross. I called them to come clean and the housekeeping manger came in with 2 other ladies to change the bedsheets. They wore their shoes and stepped all over the bedside tables and ladder that they didnt even bother to wipe down after they finish. Thats when I saw the sofa as well as the carpet also have huge stains everywhere. Not only that, light switches in both bathrooms don't work and the floor is also sticky. The tissue boxes have layers of dusts on them. Basically, this felt like a motel.... and I will never stay there again.

Do NOT stay at this hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

This was the worst Andaz experience -- Renata was extremely rude and short with us. We were very surprised by this as we are loyal globalists. We will not be returning to this hotel in San Diego and will change over our loyalty to another brand.

Would not go back

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

There was an unpleasant smell in our room. We had problems with the toilet and later the shower that were never fixed and those sent to fix it were not very friendly or effective. The rooftop pool is very pretty. The bar on the rooftop is nice but food mediocre. Some of the front desk staff was very friendly but not knowledgeable about tourist type activities in the area.
