Just on the outskirts of Gaslamp. Close enough to be in it but just far enough to not be IN it. Tons of places in walking distance without getting back and still hearing all the hustle and bustle of the night life. It's a great location if you want your peace to sleep in on the mornings and to get back at night without being in the middle of the rowdiness.

Enjoyable stay, very comfy and I appreciated things like a hydration station just outside the room. Gets a little noisy in the lower floors at night but they provide ear plugs in case you're a light sleeper!

We stayed at the Andaz as a pit stop on a trip to Mexico for a wedding. Hotel was very nice. Staff was welcoming and helpful. Room was excellent. The bathroom and shower was huge. There was a little couch right in front of the bed. Lamps next to bed had usb ports to charge devices. Location was perfect right in gas lamp district with many walkable places to grab drinks and food. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

A very nice hotel with great staff. Location on the Gaslamp Quarter is great. There are many homeless nearby during the daytime but this changes in the evening and night period. (This is true across downtown San Diego and isn’t isolated to this hotel.) We are a couple with one traveler confined to a wheelchair and we found the room and hotel in general to be very accessible, including a roll in shower with safety bars in the bathroom as well.

There were a few things I wish I would have know before bringing my kids there. Unfortunately, the pool and rooftop were pretty much all closed down due to renovations. The accomodations for the closed pool was a 20 minute drive to their other location. Between having to pay for public parking, and not wanting to pay even more elsewhere, we were unable to swim on this trip. With it being downtown, it also had quite a few homeless people, which with multiple kids under 5, was not exactly the place I would go. The public areas that were open on the rooftop, we were unable to bring any snacks or food to, which once again, with kids under 5, not a great experience. This might be a good place to go with just a couple, but I would not plan on bringing a family here.
