Set amidst Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve, this 249-room luxury San Diego resort captures the elegance and comfort of an old-world Mediterranean estate with an enviable Southern California locale. Its design honors the indelible style of visionary architect Addison Mizner (1872 – 1933) who drew his inspiration from Spain’s palaces and France’s sun-washed coastal retreats.

Beautiful resort. The property is stunning and feels like you’re somewhere in Europe. Interior of the hotel got a facelift and the lobby in particular is lovely. Service is excellent. The front was extremely helpful. Christian, Neil, and Dylan answered our many questions and made the check in and check out process seamless. Highly recommend for a couples getaway or weekend with the family.

This was a beautiful resort with not enough to do, especially on a rainy winter week. There was no place to sit in the hotel other than the lobby, which was often busy with events or did not serve food or beverages for a large portion of the day. At this level of expense, the least they could do was have water all day and coffee available in the morning for all guests. The pool was heated which was nice but the atmosphere around the pool was lacking. There was really only one restaurant so be prepared to eat there often or go to the somewhat small clubhouse at the golf course. The staff was universally nice especially working over the holidays. Finally everything was an upcharge. I don't see what the resort fee gets me. Why was there an extra charge for the fire pit, horse back riding, ice skating, yoga, etc. The kids club was a huge bonus, and my kiddo had a good time so thanks to the young woman who ran it, but again so expensive. I've never paid $40 an hour for a babysitter. Having stayed at another Fairmont this one did not live up to expectations.

We had a fantastic trip, enjoying the beautiful sights that Southern California has to offer. There is plenty to do at the resort but it was the hospitality that set this trip apart. Specifically, Neil from the front desk was absolutely outstanding. After learning my wife was pregnant, he had cookies and milk delivered to our room each night. That was just one of the small things that Neil did for us throughout our stay. He also went out of his way to make sure that my birthday was one of the best days I’ve had in a long time! It’s details like that which make a trip unforgettable, and for that we have Neil to thank!

The room was immaculate and the hotel was decorated beautifully for the holidays. The hotel staff were polite and very accommodating. The food was very good but overpriced as expected.

Spectacular in every way. The grounds are the most beautiful in the world. The stables with most beautiful and well-trained horses is the icing on the cake, as well as the newly installed pickle ball courts. We will be back, again and again.
