I had a terrible experience with this hotel. I made a deposit on Wednesday afternoon to use their private dining room in Sea and Sky Restaurant for a future event. They charged me a fee to use a credit card for a deposit. I do not live in the area. On Sunday, 4 days later, I visited the event space and found it unsatisfactory. The restaurant also had no record of my reservation. I initiated a cancellation that day. I was given a lot of circle talk by the coordinator, Shylee. She was adamant I tell her my reasons for cancelling but would not commit to any refund. I finally spoke with her supervisor Kaia, and was given the same circle talk and third degree with no promise of a refund. She kept referencing “force majure” which was apparently a clause in the contract. When I asked what that meant, she said she thought I would use the information to make up a lie to get out of my contract. I assured her I’m not a liar and I don’t appreciate being called one by a stranger. I got a weak apology at best. They were trying to get me to give them a reason for cancellation, so they could reference their contracts force mujure and tell me I had no out option. Finally I reached out to the hotel GM. I got similar circle talk, with the end result being, they would keep my $950 deposit but as a “courtesy” they would not persue another $950 for the event. This event was scheduled for 28 days later from my cancellation date. So from day 1, their contract states they will keep your 50% deposit and you are obligated to pay the other 50% whether you use the space or not. I fully admitted I missed the fine print and ask for help from the GM, Stormi. She and her other staff were like a broken record reminding me that signed a contract and they would not help me. Now I’m out almost $1000 for no service or product. Predatory organization with bad process and people. I would not recommend doing business with this organization.

Beautiful property and wonderful staff! The restaurant on the 11th floor is incredible. From breakfast to happy hour, it’s on point with the best view.

Wanted a few days away and found this hotel with ocean views. Booked the Suite which was a large bedroom (3 balconies!) living Rm, 2nd bathroom (no shower) and a balcony that looked out at the ocean, absolutely loved it! This room also had 2-mini fridges, one for food & the other a wine one, which we used for foods/drinks. We also had a wet bar w/sink (wish there was a garbage disposal) and nice counter. They also provided a microwave on request. The staff were very friendly, the maintenance/housekeepers as well. There was a young man named Rob who it was his first day at reception. He was just so friendly and professional. We also spoke to the bartender at the pool bar, she was such a delight to talk to, believe she is Ukrainian. We were so close to the La Jolla Village/ocean beach, we walked there (less than 10min) each day. That was a total treat, not to have to worry about parking. The hotel was pretty quiet, not too many booked. It's a smaller hotel w/a small pool and lobby. It needs updating though. And they need to desperately replace the sliders to be double pane. The noise at night is unbelievably loud due to the racing trucks & cars on the main HWY. But we slept with all 3 of the sliders open in the bedroom regardless. The gym was nice, small but had all the equipment, including a spin bike. The 11th floor Sea & Sky bar/restaurant we didn't visit. We're vegans and there was nothing for us there. That is a shame, every hotel should have something for everyone. Only 1 thing bugged me, we have a $30 resort fee each day, which includes $30 of food/beverage. We only took advantage of it once, we got one drink at the Hiatus bar. But as I figured, when I finally got my folio (after asking 3x for it when I got home) I saw they charged my card for the one drink. It was a measly $12. If the hotel is scanning reviews, I hope they see this one so they can refund my card for that amount. Their chat is slow, like dead slow, so useless to use. But other than that, it's a great place to stay and will definitely stay in the suite.

Laila server was v nice and kind at sea and sky restaurant. I really wish upgrade was available but unfortunately it wasn’t. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean as well. The best thing was that hotel is walking distance from the beach
