⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Perfect San Diego Getaway I had an incredible stay at Kona Kai Resort & Spa! From before I arrived, Scott and his team made me feel genuinely welcomed — they were attentive, professional, and went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. I stayed in a King Deluxe room, which was absolutely phenomenal. The space was spotless, beautifully designed, and had a balcony with amazing views of the marina and boats on the water — the perfect spot for morning coffee or sunset relaxation. The spa treatment was one of the most relaxing experiences I’ve had in a long time, and dinner at The Vessel restaurant was excellent — delicious food, great ambiance, and friendly service. I also loved spending time at the pool area, which had a fun yet peaceful atmosphere, and taking evening walks along the water was the perfect way to end each day. Kona Kai truly captures the spirit of San Diego — laid-back luxury with exceptional service. I can’t wait to come back!

We spent a restful week at Kona Kai. Selected because of its close proximity to the Humphrey’s outdoor concert venue, we enjoyed the pool and courtyard amenities. Shelter Island is very walkable and picturesque with Kona Kai serving a traditional role as an anchor property. It was odd to not have full access to valet or the restaurant and management ought to look at better options to curtail expenses. Because having staff available at guest check-in to assist with luggage is critical for first-impressions which are lasting. -Fortunately, Angelique and Ernesto made up for what would have been a 3.5 review with their thoughtful service recovery. Grab coffee before 7 am is it is complimentary until then. The Vessel typically charges for theirs. Expect a hearty and delicious buffet exclusively at breakfast time and only poolside menu choices all day. These cost savings measures are a detraction. Again, the staff are so exceptional, one can hardly stay annoyed. The gym advertises free classes but no instructors were available the times I tried. If you’re self-motivated the gym is all you’ll need as it has everything for strength, conditioning, cardio and sculpting. It boasts excellent shower facilities chock full of amenities. There’s also a lap pool. The wait staff were all exceptional as were the vast majority of on-duty management. The courtyard is a shared space so expect to be denied access to some amenities when an event is booked. The good news is we got to enjoy a wedding reception band our first night at Kona Kai. We loved the pool area with friendly and generous bartending. Resort pricing should be anticipated, but after the first cocktail, you’ll no longer care. The rooms are clean, very well appointed and cozy. High praise in quality linen, bath products and bedding.

Location was absolutely wonderful right on the water nice walking path, beautiful views. The room was 10 for 10 clean comfortable updated wonderful we use the meeting room and had lunch. Served there at the hotel for business meetings. Wonderful set up. Food was great atmosphere lunch outside on the lawn was absolutely wonderful 10 for 10. During the day, you could hear the Jets and helicopters flying over was a welcomed noise in the in the atmosphere was cool to watch them evening. Time was very quiet, peaceful even out by the water was very relaxing.
