Disappointed

I feel we were mid sold this hotel - meant to be higher end but thought it was dated with staff who were really not that interested in your enjoyment. The women who checked us in was chewing gum - not the best image. We had a room for 3 but there were no additional amenities, towels, mugs, coat hangers, glasses than for just two of us. We were never able to obtain reception staff via the phone and when we went to the front desk there was always a queue. I had had previous conversations with reservations but these were not related directly to the hotel. The bathroom was quite dated however the shampoo, conditioner etc was of good standard. No welcome water but they left 4 cans of water which were $4 each. There is a coffee machine but no tea. Room servicing was ok but you had to state you wanted this it didn’t come automatically. The food in the restaurant was of a good standard however out of the 6 nights we stayed they were shut for 2. Again on 2 of the nights there were private functions and some of the beach was shut off - we weren’t informed about this at all.

Amazing resort I would recommend!!!

Location was beyond beautiful! Atmosphere was very pleasant and welcoming. The room location was nice but the bathroom was very dated compared to my friends room. The value was great for what we received. The hotel was very clean and smelled lovely. Noise level was appropriate. Service was stellar staff was very accommodating and professional. The pool was okay could have been more kid friendly for younger children.

Extremely enjoyable

We were at the Kona Kai for a week. The entire staff was excellent. The breakfast buffet was enjoyable and relaxed, There was no rush and the view of the marina is second to none. The entire restaurant staff was a combination attentive and laid back. We had a two room issues that were taken care of quickly by the engineering staff. The A/C stopped working and the smoke detector started chirping. Each issue was fixed within 30 minutes. The location of this hotel was perfect. We had a great view of the bay entrance and Point Loma. I will absolutely stay there again.
