Kona Kai Resort and Spa

My wife and I loved how quiet and relaxing Shelter Island is. We went off season so there were no crowds and it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Our room was incredibly clean and nice. We will definitely stay here again. We had a view of the bay but next time we will get a room with a view of the marina.

Excellent resort. Beds were really nice. Staff were friendly and helpful. Both pools and jacuzzi were clean with a great view. We enjoyed the fire pits and smores. We'll done Kona Kia.

Our stay at Kona Kai San Diego Resort in September 2025 was nothing short of incredible. We booked our trip through Costco Travel and from the moment we arrived, everything exceeded expectations. The room was absolutely breathtaking — clean, spacious, beautifully designed, and incredibly peaceful. Waking up each morning to the calming waterfront view felt surreal. The atmosphere throughout the resort was relaxing and serene, making it the perfect escape from everyday life. Shelter Island itself has such a quiet charm, and Kona Kai captures that feeling perfectly. The staff was welcoming and attentive, the property was well-maintained, and every part of the experience felt upscale without being overwhelming. Whether sitting on the balcony enjoying the view, walking around the marina, or simply relaxing in the room, there was a sense of calm that made the trip unforgettable. If you’re looking for a peaceful San Diego getaway with stunning views and a resort experience that truly helps you unwind, I would absolutely recommend Kona Kai. We’re already talking about coming back.
