Paradise Point Resort & Spa

This was our first stay at Paradise Point, and we absolutely loved it. The lobby staff were very friendly, and all of the staff we met or needed to talk to were amazing and helpful. The location made it very easy to get to other places in San Diego like Old Town, the waterfront area, and being retired military, getting to North Island Naval Station was close and easy to get to. I would absolutely recommend staying here.

Very dated hotel and very unsafe. Do not get a beach side room. It’s a public beach and there is lots of theft and homeless people. We had major theft during our event and the hotel security was completely unhelpful during and after it happened. The windows literally pop out easily. Horrible. Oh we also found a cockroach

We booked a two-night stay at Paradise Point for $757, plus $49 per night for parking, but were unable to spend even one night there. At approximately 8:30 p.m., we saw a very large cockroach in our first room. Two maintenance employees searched the entire room but could not find it after it disappeared. We were moved to another room at around 10:00 p.m. At approximately 10:30 p.m., we found a second cockroach on the floor of the replacement room. We were able to kill that one and took a photograph. Then, at approximately 12:30 a.m., I used my phone flashlight while getting up to use the bathroom and discovered a third cockroach on our bed. We packed our belongings and drove an hour home that night. When I later called to verify that we would not be charged, a manager said she had spoken with the night clerk, who confirmed we had left, and assured me there would be no charge. She offered no apology or acknowledgment of what we had experienced. At this price, we expected to feel comfortable sleeping in our room. Finding three cockroaches across two rooms—including one on our bed—made that impossible and ruined the stay we had planned.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Deneda and the level of care she has shown throughout my wedding planning experience at Paradise Point Resort. She is the director of sales and marketing at Paradise and from the very beginning, Deneda has truly gone above and beyond to help make this process as smooth and stress-free as possible. Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, and having someone who is so responsive, attentive, and genuinely willing to help has made such a huge difference for me. Whenever I have a question or need assistance, she is incredibly quick to respond and always makes me feel like my concerns are being heard and taken care of. What I appreciate most about Deneda is that she makes you feel like more than just another wedding client. She has made me feel supported and reassured throughout the planning process, and that sense of being taken care of has really stood out to me. Her professionalism, kindness, and dedication have given me so much more confidence and peace of mind leading up to our wedding day. Honestly, if it weren’t for Deneda, I don’t think I would have the same feeling about my experience at the resort. She has made such a positive impression on me and has truly been one of the highlights of planning our wedding at Paradise Point. I would absolutely recommend Paradise Point Resort to anyone considering it for their wedding or special event, and a huge reason why is because of people like Deneda. She is an incredible asset to the resort, and I’m so grateful to have had her helping us along the way. I truly feel like we are in good hands, and I couldn’t ask for a better person to have by our side during such an important and exciting time. Thank you Deneda, we appreciate you :)

We paid a premium price for a resort experience and apparently got the “vintage San Diego” package: musty rooms, dirty AC vents, limited TV channels, and enough duck poop to qualify as a wildlife preserve. We actually switched rooms because of the musty smell, only to discover that the new room had the same issue, just with nicer-looking furniture. The “smart” TV was about as smart as a brick. No casting, no streaming, no real way to watch anything except the handful of channels provided. Apparently, the TV and I have very different definitions of the word “smart.” The grounds could also use some serious TLC. There was trash, spoiled vegetation, and so much bird and duck poop that I started wondering if we were staying at a resort or renting a timeshare from the ducks. And we live in Florida, so we're not exactly new to birds. Even the water glasses on arrival were spotty and looked questionable. Not exactly the first impression you want when you're paying premium prices. Honestly, there’s a lot of potential here. Invest in some modern amenities, clean the AC systems, upgrade the technology, pressure wash EVERYTHING, and give the grounds some serious attention. Do that, and the property could absolutely be worth the money. Until then, lower your expectations, then lower them some more, and watch where you step. The ducks apparently own the place. 🦆😂
