Pendry San Diego

When I find a place like the Pendry it becomes the gold standard for my stays. Whenever in San Diego for work it becomes my go to spot if I'm lucky enough to get in.

Outstanding stay at the Pendry! Front desk staff & concierge were great with recommendations. Excellent location in the Gaslamp district. Cadillac ride & drive perk is really great! So convenient, no rental car needed.

My stay at the Pendry San Diego was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and truly elevated every part of the experience. The hotel is beautifully designed with a perfect blend of modern luxury and coastal California style, making it feel both sophisticated and inviting. The location in the Gaslamp Quarter is unbeatable, everything from restaurants to nightlife is just steps away, yet the rooms are peaceful and incredibly comfortable. The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in, and the attention to detail in the room, from the décor to the amenities, was outstanding. What truly sets the Pendry apart is the overall experience, it feels like more than just a hotel, but a destination in itself. Whether you’re visiting for a getaway, business trip, or special occasion, this place delivers on every level. I can’t wait to return!

I have stayed at several five-star hotels, and I can confidently say this was my worst experience. Proper room cleaning is a fundamental requirement for any five-star property, yet it did not meet that basic standard. At times, it felt more like staying at a roadside motel than a luxury hotel. Several issues occurred throughout my stay: A cup in the room was visibly dirty at first glance. I brought it to reception out of concern that someone might unknowingly use it. After requesting proper cleaning, the next day a mop was left hanging on the bathroom towel rack. I brought the mop to reception myself. No apology or explanation was given—only that they would inform housekeeping. The bedding contained small particles, which caused itching during the night. The room was very noisy until around 2 a.m. (understandable given the downtown location, but still disruptive). Most disappointing was the reception team. I interacted with multiple staff members, but none showed attentiveness or took ownership of the issues. It felt as though handling guest concerns was not their responsibility. At a five-star hotel, both service and attention to detail should exceed basic expectations. Unfortunately, this stay fell far below that standard.

This is a luxurious hotel in a fantastic location! The staff was friendly and made everything easy. The library themed nooks on the second floor are gorgeous. The fitness center had everything. The pool looked amazing and we hated that we were so busy at a conference that we didn't get to spend more time there and at the spa. For a tiny bit more than some of the nearby hotels we got a truly luxurious stay.
