Gabriel, you are awesome!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Lovely Hotel, has a fun old feel to it, plus lots of fun activities going on throughout the week typically. The restaurant has yummy food and Gabriel who works there is amazing! I enjoy people watching and noticed him sitting and befriending a non hotel guest who just comes in for breakfast weekly. I loved seeing that, it shows a person's character that people who are not guest make sure they stop in while Gabriel is working. Looking forward to my next opportunity to visit with him. Thanks, Stephen

The hotel is beautiful and elegant. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The bathroom is perfectly situated for getting ready, good lighting and an amazing shower! The restaurant is exceptional and the staff there is very good. We will definitely be back!

Why stay anywhere else?!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We were so delighted with the front desk, staff and the service in the room and the location of this wonderful hotel during our holiday. Stay! Everything was spotless, well decorated, comfortable, and super convenient to guess lamp and little Italy and the ferry to Coronado and the water! We are looking forward to coming back again, and we’ll certainly stay at the Westgate. Thank you for a wonderful trip!

Westgate Tea Experience, so so

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

I went to afternoon tea at the Westgate Hotel with two guests as a Christmas gift for my mother. While the ambiance was exactly what we anticipated, I was disappointed by a few things that weren’t communicated clearly upfront. We made a reservation a week in advance specifically for afternoon tea and lunch at $65 a person. Upon arrival, we were served one small glass of champagne and two small glasses of sparkling cider, which later appeared on the bill as an additional $30 charge. This was never explained or presented as an optional add-on, and I believe charges like this should be clearly disclosed in advance. Service was also quite slow. We waited a long time to be served, to the point that we had to flag down the waiter for assistance. Additionally, I’m a member of the Westgate Hotel gym (AquaVie) and was told that members receive a 20% discount on dining. However, for this visit, only a 7% discount was applied, with no explanation provided at the time. Finally, a 20% gratuity was automatically added to the check. I would have preferred the opportunity to decide the gratuity myself. The tea selection and treats were good and nicely presented, and the setting was lovely. That said, the lack of transparency around pricing, discounts, and gratuity was disappointing and took away from what was meant to be a special experience. For that reason, I would likely consider other venues for afternoon tea in the future.

Afternoon Tea Experience
