The Westgate Hotel

Business travelers, Beware! If you rely on stable, high-speed internet for remote work, I recommend staying elsewhere. I spent two days trying to make the Wi-Fi work, including switching rooms, testing the connection in the business center and common areas, and spending hours troubleshooting with IT. In the end, I had no choice but to switch hotels. The connection was so unstable that my Remote Desktop session disconnected about every 30 seconds, and virtual meetings were too choppy to be usable. I reported the issue within 30 minutes of checking in and explained that I would need to relocate if it couldn’t be resolved quickly. The front desk staff and manager were courteous and genuinely tried to help, but they also made it difficult to check out. I ultimately lost hours of valuable work time while trying to find a solution. Beyond the internet issues, the property is showing its age and in desperate need of updates: * The carpet in both rooms I was assigned was heavily stained and badly discolored. * There was no swing latch or secondary door latch. Housekeeping entered my room twice without knocking, which was a significant privacy concern. * The bed sheets had visible stains. The one highlight was the rooftop pool deck and access to a well-equipped boutique gym.

In the afternoon, we were looking for a hotel in downtown San Diego. The Westgate Hotel in San Diego had availability. We received excellent service there from Joe, who arranged our room and accommodated our requests. We checked in during the evening with Ivan, who told us all about the hotel's facilities. He also gave us great advice regarding parking our car. Ivan’s colleague, Omar, also provided us with helpful information about the hotel and the surrounding area. Ivan and Omar are excellent representatives of the hotel. The hotel exudes a classic European style. We really enjoyed staying in the spacious rooms and sleeping in the wonderfully comfortable beds. Breakfast is à la carte, generous, and reasonably priced. Anamarie provided excellent service during breakfast; nothing was too much trouble for her. The staff at the Westgate Hotel are very polite, friendly, and helpful. If you appreciate a classic European style, this hotel comes highly recommended.

The rooms were beautiful, spotless, and so comfortable, and the entire hotel has a timeless, upscale charm. The service was exceptional from start to finish, and everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and celebrated. If you're planning a girls' getaway, bachelorette weekend, or just want a gorgeous place to stay in San Diego, I can't recommend The Westgate Hotel enough. It truly exceeded all of our expectations, and we can't wait to come back!
